Training - Fri 9th Dec 22

I’ve been abit critical of Nino’s criticism towards our recruitment obsession with drafting skinny players (especially KPP).

I know Nino is more impatient about players who are physically ready to play AFL straight away.

But perhaps there is some merit in our selection of skinny KPP, and their lack physical ability to handle a fulltime program. And it goes all the way back to Gumbleton, even Hooker was having significant problems with his back and hamstrings early on.

Every club drafts skinny kpp’s. Most 18yr old tall players are.

It not just us that deals with the associated issues that can arise

So you think it’s just our fitness programs?

Cox isn’t physically capable of being a key defender in 2023.

He’s not physically ready. We don’t want to break him as well do we?

Don’t think he’s had the same issues as our young KPPs

Here’s an article in 2016.

Yes young talls get stress related injuries. You just have to ride it out while they are young and once they get to 23-24yo you will have a talented player in starting their prime part of their careers

@Finding_Nino probably says what many are thinking ……that our recruiting and development of young players is not AFL standard - we are appalling

Question for anyone that saw Jones at training.

Has he put on any more size?? Does he look a bit bigger??

Bit more muscle around the arms - chest will naturally fill out over time. Has good, wide shoulders.
