Training Monday 12/12/16

I pretty much only watch footy to see Orazio.

I will be at Melbourne airport around lunchtime on December 20 so l am looking to head over to the open training session at 2:30. Google maps says its only 1.4 km by car but 6.2km by foot along established walking paths. So can anyone tell me if its walkable from the airport via the shorter route.

4.1 k by foot. I think you can cut through the gap in melrose drive wich probably cuts it from 4.1 to 3.5 but the street view is 2014 so I cannot be sure.

Tullamarine Bus Co runs services from airport to close to TVSC, uses myki, can top up on bus.
Best to ring to check terminal departure point and times
tullamarinebus.com.au

If you jump out on approach, I’d estimate you’re about 5 or 600 metres from the TVSC,
That doesn’t include the 800 metre drop, but that almost takes no time at all.

Taxis love the quick drive from the arrivals terminal to the TVSC, and there’s heaps of them there

Chris’s map looks correct. Be aware you have to enter from Melrose Drive. Google Maps can lead you astray by suggesting access from Link Road but that is all fenced off.

Anyone looking for a footy fix been catching the NT AFL on NITV? It’s well worth a watch more often than not.

Tiwi Bombers being quite entertaining against the Wanderers ATM.

Oak Park High School, my old stomping ground but when i was there we had Curly Austin

I had Steve Taubert.

Geez how many on here from OPHS??

As for Male PE teachers- started out with Steve Taubert, moved to Curly Austin, and finished with John Conway. 78-83.
Steve used to get the boys down from EFC to do a footy clinic, and I remember having a scratch match with Neagle, Hawker, Taubert, Heard and a few others. Really top blokes.
As we were in the North zone then, if North sent down a “clinic” it was Slug Jordan and a fringe player, (I remember Alan Jarrot once). Fkn Povo’s…
Oh, and I’m pretty sure Jake Melksham’s dad was a couple of years below me, (David??)

I was is the same year as Dave Melksham, seems a few from OPHS here

Two observations from the circuit training video on the club website.

  1. McKenna had bulked up seriously.
  2. They are smashing the 1-3 year players, which is awesome.

Early days I guess, Jackie/ Knackers / Benny Boy did you happen to notice how Clarke is progressing? We know his kicking is not his best attribute but he’s not getting a mention in despatches about his reputed strengths.

When are the games on?

AFAICT they are first run 10pm Tuesday, RPTD 10.30 am Wed, (just missed it)

But, last weeks game is up on SBS On demand, so I s’pose last nights will be up there soon.

Actually, after searching, they are all up there, … except for the game from week 3 for some reason.

Enjoy!

It was a good school- pity it’s just a housing estate now. When it closed, I moved the family from Oak Park to Gisborne.-It’s sort of like the old town was in the 80’s…and that’s a good thing.

Mentioned him in the report for Wednesday 14/12/16 for you.

I am unsure how he is progressing as such as it was the first time I have seen him. Size wise he looks like he has a decent build already, but could still beef up a little more for that inside role. This will come easily. As I noted when watching his kicking, he seems to wait a while to kick as though he needs to think about it too much, concentrate, it seems as though it doesn’t come naturally and there is no real easy flow as you find with a lot of the others. In saying that it appears to be quite accurate, although not overly long or with any real pace. He will have a couple of years to tweek it with the help of the coaching staff. He should be fine. I didn’t notice much else with him as 1st years didn’t participate in the game sim drills. I will have to take more interest next time.
