Training Monday 29/01

I should have said the best I have seen in these conditions rather than the just best ever.

It’s quite often they get a howling wind at Tulla and I’ve often seen them missing or kicking very wide with about 1 out of 3 or 4 in the past, it can be very difficult to manage. I think today it was more like 1 out of 10 missed today which in still conditions wouldn’t be considered great but considering the wind I thought was excellent. Particularly kicking into the wind I thought they did well, really punching the ball low.

During a drill where Mason Fletcher was kicking out to leading players, Walla was being marked by McKenna and felt that McKenna had cheated a little so Walla yelled out… “Chopped my arms”
Conner yelled back… “Chopped your balls”

Walla and I just looked at each other and started laughing

Thought I’d share a funny moment from todays training session

I haven’t really seen much of the marking ability that Hardingham had, and even in general training he is still getting used to the pace and is a bit fumbly and inaccurate with his disposal, it will probably be another year before he is considered for seniors.

I think it will be longer than a year tbh. But he’s been chosen for the long term and there is zero urgency for him to be ready anytime soon with the current list we have.

Yes I found that interesting too. Hartley was also in the group having shots and Houlihan was the only one getting close. He was kicking a high torpedo swinging away from the goals that would catch
the wind and then swing back in. Towards the end Hartley got the knack as well and kicked a few in a row.

The thing that it showed me as much as anything is the confidence Houlihan has in his abilities, he wasn’t at all overawed by Raz and Tippa without being arrogant about it. It’s important early on that new recruits feel that that they fit in.

I think nackers is the one who should be the judge of that.

Were all players wearing their correct numbers today?

MASE STRAIGHT SWAP FOR FRANG

I know a lot of people on here have question marks on Lav, but I for one am super keen to see how he goes if he stays injury free this year.

After the full field drill the players went to 3 different groups and did specialised work, of which there were 3 distinct groups of forwards mids and backs. There were no great surprises, but for those interested in such things the groups were;

FORWARDS
Daniher, Raz, Green, Begley, Stewart, Houlihan, Hooker, Laverde, Tippa, Smack

MIDFIELD
McGrath, Parish, Langford, Zerrett, Zaharakis, Heppell, Myers, Stringer, Guelfi, Clarke, Draper, Mynott

BACKS
Gleeson, Goddard, Bags, Hurley, Jerrett, Redman, Brown, Ambrose, Zerk, Hartley, Saad, Mckenna, Dea, McNiece

Smith, Francis, Mutch, and Luey, didn’t do any drills and Bellchambers, Long, Lavender, Colyer and Ridley didn’t train today

Yes I think so, although I think there were a couple without numbers as well from memory

That’s a pity. Riciutto’s voice makes me physically sick

Lol, I have a series of action shots of open ground, then you walking in, dropping your bag and whipping out the binoculars, if you’d like them.

Didn’t realise it might have been you until I went back in the thread, was laughing to myself.

All good you made the pic all the more famous.

Funny you should say that. Do you remember Dodoro saying that Jordan doesn’t even know just how talented he is and he will take some time realising that he belongs?

@Kj_11, were you standing with me behind the goals at the far end of the main oval by any chance?

I had a white shirt on and picked up a stray footy that was kicked over the fence and kicked it back to them.

And a big thank you from Mooloolaba, Qld chaps.

How has Mutch’s pre season been? Haven’t heard much about him in the reports I don’t think?
