Training Report 24.11.2023

I rate Tex and hope like hell he makes it but I’m not too confident at this point, Guelfi is just ok, when he’s playing VFL we know we are doing well.

Who are our genuine small forwards rolling in to 2024 ?

Gresham, Menzie, Alwyn Jnr, Jayden and Tex are genuine smalls. Guelfi can play the role too but I acknowledge he isn’t a genuine small.

Good lord

Sorry, I should have asked who are our genuine small forwards that are ready to make an impact in 2024.
Menzie :heavy_check_mark:
Gresham :heavy_check_mark:
Jayden :x:
Tex :x:
Alwyn Is not a small forward
Guelfi is part timer

That basically leaves us two players, take a look at the good teams and see how many quality small forwards they have.
And the way our mids butcher it to our forwards we should be stacked with crumbing smalls.

Tex hasn’t shown any signs he’ll make it.

Davey has shown he definitely has the skill, but will be a few years until we know if he has the body that can stand up to AFL standards

Absolutely! That’s all we can ask for. The rest will take care of itself.

At best they are depth players. Wanganeen did show some great signs in VFL games, but his injury history has set him back.

I personally will be surprised if Jayden Davey and tex are still on the list next year

Seems injuries might get the better of both of them. I hope not however

As others have touched on, Jayden Davey has been running laps for over a year. If he still can’t join in for some of the main sessions, he must have a massive question mark against him

Serious?

Tex’s body is farked, and guelfi is a honest battler

Then you’re gonna be surprised…… because Jayden has 2 years left on his contract.

So did Jimmy Stewart

Did he get a 3 year deal?

Both Alwyn and Jayden signed 3 year deals, when drafted.

Add that to the list of reasons our list management team has been the worst in the comp

A 3 year deal to a bloke coming off 2 ACLs. Classic

3 year deal is the standard for draftees now if im not mistaken

Thought it is for first round picks at the very least

Fairly confident it isn’t for anyone else

Three year minimum hasn’t happened yet. Anyone taken at the draft gets two years standard.

Wouldn’t have thought three for someone injured and missing the first year (and a F/S) is a big deal. It also locks them in at lower rates if they become guns, so works both ways, gives them some security and the club some surety.

Baldwin will overtake Laverde next season

Don’t think so

Alwyn 3 (end of 2025) Jayden 2 (end of 2024)
