No, they had different tops to everyone else, I don’t think they even had numbers.
Those who did train had an assortment on, Francis in 47, Ham 35, Hird 8, Caldwell 9 (he has been wearing 8), 2MP 20 etc.
I hope the club is doing all they can to help Francis.
He should be doing boxing (at a proper boxing gym with a boxing trainer) and swimming to improve his cardiovascular over the entire preseason.
He could also do with a running coach/mentor to help with motivation and sticking to his program.
Sorry Clone_Hirdy but breaking a player sows the seed of doubt. Introducing the concept of I am not ready for this and eroding confidence. To compete the athlete must be supremely confident in their fitness, which is continually developed and built upon using the periodisation process. Players are taken to an edge and each week the edge is a bit more work, normally via game simulation or action reaction games to develop game understanding. At the same time skills are continually fine tuned to withstand the pressure of the game. The periodisation process is the key to the ultimate success, and teams that quaff the finals series early have a significant advantage because of it!
Anyone who’s been to the new(ish) digs comment on the exposure out there. I may be wrong but nearly every training report since we moved from Windy Hill describes a literally windy hill and it concerns me we train in adverse conditions when most games are not in adverse conditions - although we do our best to make them so.
First thing we should have done is plant bloody great big cypress trees as wind breaks to the north and west. Nonetheless, it would still take 20yrs for this to have an effect.
Second thing would have been to build all the buildings to the north and west of the ovals, also to provide wind breaks. But, ours are to the west and the southwest.
