I’d be concerned if there weren’t DonBomb haha.
Nobody apart from probably Langers really stood out too much from a goals perspective though. It appeared a pretty even spread.

Are all blitzers are training or is nothing happening?
Who was on which team who kicked multiple goals for each side?
Are they still using the scoreboard to create match scenarios?
Did Sam Sofronidis earn a spot on the list?
how are the forward entries looking?
Is there a system regarding positioning of talls and smalls, and between leads vs bombing it to a pack?
ta
Easily the best Cox has looked all pre-season. Intensity was really good.
Oh wow! This is sensational! It’s such a shame all you guys aren’t here to witness such an incredible training session! Remarkable!
Oh well.
wtf
This is great news…he is a good player we have seen his skills
I feel like with the number and quality of the guys not participating today, i.e. up forward no Wright, Stringer, Caddy etc it was a bit of a different mix up there which probably took some adjusting to. Whilst nothing really stands out too much in regards to your question there were a few instances that were pleasing where players looked to lower their eyes and hit a 15-20 metre kick inside 50 to someone in a better position to ensure that the shot for goal was given the best possible chance.
Its a no from me, not AFL level yet. I would sign him to the VFL
With no wright, stringer or caddy around you would have hoped jones stamped himself. How was he?
many thanks, that’s encouraging
hopefully they’re also doing a lot of training on the actual goal kicking itself to maximise return on the scoreboard - it makes a big difference to winning and building momentum during a match
He certainly didn’t stand out with a heap of touches or goals or play with the authority of a key position player put it that way. Best I could say was they he made a contest more often than not and seems to be covering the ground pretty well.
Has to be a consideration? Hes already IN!
Who is/was that hairy bloke?
Alrighty back home now so can report
I only caught the first two blocks, then scooted off to urbansurf and watched surfers/kooks wiping out
As per my earlier comments those initially not involved in any sim were 2MP, Stringer, Caddy & Hobbs… We know what’s up with the latter 2, I assume/hope the others were more of just a load management thing. Will soon see if 2MP or Stringer play or not vs Saints on Fri.
Shiel was out there for his first hitout, only played first block then off to 2nd oval with the above. He’ll obviously be slowly integrated back into more and more. Reid as well only played first block, then ran the boundary from the hangar entry over to the other oval also. He’s had a seamless pre season so again perhaps load management
On Reid, jeez he is huge which given I’m 200cm myself is unusual for me to say. Moves so well, even in pre match sim when they were in goal kicking he just swept onto a ground ball and snapped it beautifully. Really hope he can stay on the park this year and show his talents.
Archie Roberts certainly looks like might be a perfect Hep replacement, nice penetrating and accurate left foot, marks the ball well also. Lloydy’s scouting seems on money
Things were definitely more evenly matched as others had noted as far as red v black team so play was moving end to end better. They continued to just stop play often and do various scenarios though, and often if defending side got the ball they’d go and restart the scenario.
So good to see Draper back out, in the hat so no contact but was still getting involved. At one point in a ball up on wing he just took the ball from the ruck contest and took off out of the front of stoppage leaving everyone in his wake before kicking inside 50. He’s still got a bit to go obviously but building towards round 1 for sure. That mullet streaming behind him as he runs off is a thing of beauty.
I also thought Bryan was quite good as far as his hit outs and gaining possessions after ruck contest. Besides one where he handballed it straight to Goldy on opposing team. We all know there is a player there with Bryan, it’s simply him building his body and attack on footy/man. Hopefully Goldy can have a strong impact on his development at training anyway, Goldy will be ahead of him for senior games this year for sure. He is quality and Parish & co will revel in his ability to put it to their advantage
I was interested to see Sofronidis and how he went. Been a while since we’ve had a bald head out there, although Hind has had a very short crop now also and may as well get out the razor! Certainly Sof was good overhead and gets to right spots, thought his kicking wasn’t great however. whether it was nerves or otherwise had a number of turnovers I noted, one in backline that ended up with a goal back over his head and the other when he was trying to spot up someone inside 50. I wasn’t paying attention / he wasn’t on my side of ground during the earlier drills to see how he was going kicking wise
On the turnover front, Jones who’d taken a nice mark on flank moved to play on, chose to ignore an outside runner on boundary and keep moving forward himself then proceeded to grubber the ball along the ground when had options leading out or long inside 50. Also had a moment where ball had spilled to him about 40 out, fumbled, tried to go and collect and then fumbled again and ball held in. Still took some marks around ground but just doesn’t do anywhere near enough to demand a spot IMO
Durham & Gresham continue to impress and look set for a big year, as does Martin who could elevate himself another level. Will never be out of the game with the role he has now, clearly has licence to just leave the backline and be involved all the way down the ground
As per last weeks intra it’s really too hard to gauge things when just doing the drills against yourselves.
Bring on the Saints on Friday, not sure I’ll swindle getting out of work but see how I go
Ive been on the reid train from the start. His elite kicking and skills for a big guy (yes hes grown more!) Is just beautiful to watch
No one his height can do the things he can do as a defender. He is going to be elite.
