seriously get around this bloke. he’s like Devon Smith but bigger with his efforts. if he’s a bust, it’s a bust. but I fucken bet anyone he’s not. he brings a fantastic work ethic and it’s awesome to see the guys getting around him too and encouraging him for his good work. at worst He’s gonna bring intensity and raise defensive efforts and that can only be a good thing.

All I noticed in that play was Shiel shanking another forward entry kick. He meant that to go to the left (advantage of his forward) instead he kicks it on top of the defenders head.

Anyone make out any of the trialing guys out there in any of the videos?
He ran to the wrong side for his left foot. One of our righties should be getting to that spot for the receive and Shiel should be cutting across going corridor
It will be nice to have have another guy Smith doesn’t run past to make a tackle (tippa being the other). At want point though does everyone buy in to bringing that level of commitment though? Hopefully with 3 genuine terriers in the side it starts to become infectious

Shiel kicking like that on his left is the epitome of the modern footballer. They are taught not to use their non preferred. If he were equally, or near equally, proficient on his right, he would continue on the path he was on, and have time to look up for an option, rather than cutting back into traffic and getting a quick kick off that might have been smothered had he taken another step or two.
