Surely all Rioli has to do is cite the 2021 incident between Ridley and Hipwood. Off the ball high elbow, Ridley concussed, Hipwood not even cited.

Look at Van Rooyen get 2 weeks for a hit around the jaw with no room for appeal
And in that instance it was in play(sloppy attempt at a spoil).
Rioli is gone. He will be doing cartwheels if its only 2. Im expecting 3 or 4.
Its way worse if behind play. Will be graded intentional, high impact(concussed) and high contact.

Careless, high and medium/low impact. 1-2 weeks.
Wasn’t a king hit, just unlucky he flushed him in the right spot.
Medium impact with the concussion. Upgraded to high impact due to the potential for injury.
I think that’s too harsh, but we’ll see.
Merrett got a week and there wasn’t a concussion.
Day got two weeks and there wasn’t a concussion.
Both were tackles during play.
This is off the ball. Has to be more than two weeks.

I think contact was intentional, it was off the ball and he jumped to make contact.
It was high contact
So that puts it at a min of 2 weeks.
If Impact is judged on outcome then I think its
Intentional High High - 3 week holiday.
Im not sure what severe is but im guessing injury. Does concussion now count?
I tell you what would deter players more from committing acts…take percentage point away from sides for the game the act was committed. It’s almost at a point where you can game the system. A sling tackle gets 1 week, but you could knock the player out for the match. If you were playing Geelong one week and West Coast the next, why wouldn’t you take someone like Cameron out of the game?
red card is the easier solution
take a player out of the match, you can sit beside him on the bench

Nope. To easy to game. Oh Hawkins hit me high. I am fine but will deliberately get my questions wrong on my concussion protocol test, sit out the game and Hawkins can sit next to me, removing one of Geelongs biggest weapons, whilst also leaving them a player short because he can’t be subbed.
I may not like the MRO, but it is %1000 better than letting some maggot that doesn’t even know the rules of the game, decide whether a player should be sent off. FFS, 4 of them didn’t even award a free kick to the bloke that got hit high and concussed.

I would have said the the Power Player looked like he took a dive,like in a really badly acted kung fu movie.
But concussion is concussion, even if the reaction … almost looked like Rioli’s shadow got him after he passed by.

What I don’t understand about the whole incident, is that the umpire was right in the vicinity, as the ball was being kicked towards Ridley. And they saw nothing. very fortuitous timing for Rioli. With 4 umpires though, and them looking for holding ahead of the ball, etc, I would of expected to see that incident.
I’ve looked at it a few times and is it the hip that makes contact or the trailing arm?

How many week Junior Rioli ? Sort of reminded me of the time that Collingwood thug decked Somerville about 500 metres behind play.
