anyone watched The Royals? lovely trashy show about a pill popping coke sniffing sex driven version of the UK royal family. Some might say semi-documentary ![]()
I’ve been tempted but never seem to get around to watching it.
I’ve been watching/bingeing Blindspot…. not great scripting or believable scenes but it’s got me in.
For the night owls, ABC has been showing some Michael Parkinson in Australia first broadcast about 50 years ago on commercial TV ( with the ads cut)
Gough was on last night ( or early morning) with Harry Secombe, Barry Tuckwell ( Bambi’s brother) and Spike Milligan as the Mayor of Woy Woy. Gough was the only one not amused by the Mayor.
Some of it is fascinating, seeing Don Dunstan, Joh , Alan Bond, Hawke pre PM, Peter Allen ( great gossip there)
My wife made me watch the first couple of episodes. Not sure what was worse the acting or the show in general!
it’s totally craptacular!
I think it’s wonderful!
Finished two series, and only a couple to go in another.
Portuguese series Till Life Do Us Part, about 3 generations of a family. Wouldn’t suit anybody who wants constant action or nonsensical characters.
The Marked Heart, a Mexican series about organ trafficking. Camila, the wife of a top political fixer, has myocardiopathy and will die if she doesn’t get a new heart. So her husband pays organ traffickers who murder a fit woman and harvests her heart.
Couple to go with Call My Agent about a Parisian firm of theatrical agents. There’s an English (and Italian) rehash, essentially using the same script. Lots of famous French actors playing themselves.
My sister put me onto Brokenwood Mysteries, which is sort of a Kiwi Midsomer. Quite enjoyable.
Just started DI Ray with Parminder Negra from Bend It Like Beckham. She’s just joined the homicide squad in Birmingham. Also stars Gemma Whelan from GoT and Ian Puleston-Davies, Pennyworth’s dad.
Might have to get to Señora Acero from Series 3 onward, now they have Carolina Miranda (Who Killed Sara?), Gaby Espino (40 Years Young) and Ana Luisa Dominguez (The Marked Heart). The publicity picture for Gaby Espino looks just like Kim Kardashian, but miles prettier. The first series had some very amateurish acting, but they forgot to sign Blanca Soto for Series 3, so tripled down on stunners.
My sister and BinL watch Brokenwood and Misummer all the time. I have seen a few of each, but not all that impressed.
I can assure you that a certain ranga prince used to love a disco biscuit or two.
2 episodes into Peaky Blinders.
Bloke at work raves about it.
So far so good. But I need to know if I should invest in this, or any other decent series on Netflix.
Oh, you must invest.
Yes from me.
yep
Oh cool, I had no idea there had been another series.
Yes to PB
I’ve tried to watch it twice now, up to episode 6 of season 1 and I’m struggling, don’t really rate it. But that might be more a taste thing
Just finished season 6. Latest series started slowly but built beautifully into another good series.
Caught a little bit of him with Newk yesterday.
I know this sounds weird but I get a funny feeling Parkinson is someone that has avoided yewtree so far.
Don’t think it’s on an Australian streaming service, but if you can get your hands on The Old Man, 100% recommended.
Jeff Bridges. CIA stuff. Amazing writing.
Get on it.
