TV show thread (2022-?)

Late to the party on this one, but I’m genuinely enjoying Monarch: Legacy of Monsters right now. Godzilla by way of the X Files and Oppenheimer, a cross-generational thing continually jumping timelines, with Kurt Russell and his son playing the same character in the modern day and the Cold War 50s respectively. The new Godzilla films have been miserable FX-blighted drek as a whole, but this is actually pretty good.

How many times can they have hissy fits and end up enemies until they end up friends again. Getting a bit old.

Precisely

Poker Face.

Natasha Lyonne is unbearably charming. Incredibly talented actress.

It gets slightly weaker as the season goes on, but it’s more than worth your time.

It’s a shame what happened to Adrian Brody‘s career.

It is a boring well worn cliche from American movies.

A few years late I know, but I’ve been watching Mr.Robot since it started on Stan. Four episodes in and am enjoying it enough to keep going with it at this stage, but is it really a show just for boffins?

Got 2 episodes through The Decameron.

Not a fan of absurdist stuff but this is just tripe.

There was a great thread on Mr robot you should read it while you watch

Fantastic show, imo.

Nah, it’s about so much more than that. If you like it so far, keep going.

Check back in here once you get to season 2. It’s… Interesting.

I’m only 1 episode in, and it’s… Fine, I guess. It overstayed its welcome a few seasons back, I reckon. Much like the movies, it went downhill once Terry Silver arrived. And Kenny.

I’ll still watch it until the end, though. (This is the end, yeah?)

It’s a long end - a dragged out end - a bit like watching Essendon from June onwards.

ive watched the first episode and I can already see its going to be the same as every other season… I haven’t gone back yet, but its got “The Walking Dead” stink about it, that is a show that killed its legacy by doing the same ■■■■ over and over again.

We need Rob and Ryan to come in and buy Essington

Deadpool is black and red…

Appropriate.

For Those About To Die, Amazon/Prime

Anyone hanging out for the Gladiator sequel might want to have a look at this one. Covers similar territory to the original movie: gladiators, slaves, chariot races, senate double-dealing, murderous family plots.

Sure, there’s dodgy CGI, cringeworthy dialog, bad acting and a barely there narrative but it’s oddly addictive.

Gee, don’t oversell it!

I’ve watched one episode. Not busting down the door to watch the next.

But in the style of all big budget period dramas, they mask this all with a flurry of titz.
