TV show thread (2022-?)

I’m watching Mad Men for the first time while my wife rewatches it. Just stated season 6 so on the home straight. Can’t believe I waited so long.

I couldn’t get into it.

I’ll really liked it for a while but it just became one of those series that didn’t know when to stop.

Yeah…I struggled through the first season and part of season 2.

It just never grabbed me.

It rivalled Deadwood for making me want to drink whiskey all the time. Just seemed natural to want to have a couple of fingers between the lounge room and the bathroom, between thoughts even. Dangerous shows.

I loved Deadwood…was devo when they stopped making it…the movie they eventually released was ok but wasn’t what the show deserved.

On a brighter note, it introduced me to Timothy Olyphant who I then enjoyed watching in Justified.

Same experience, Justified was a hoot, Olyphant just amped up his Deadwood character. And in turn that show threw up the excellent Walter Goggins who’s everywhere now but best in The Righteous Gemstones as Baby Billy Freeman, and Fallout as the Ghoul. Great actors those two, funny and menacing often at the same time.

Started watching Fallout…got about halfway through the 2nd episode and gave up…just couldn’t get any connection to any of the characters.

He comes into it more fully later on, there’s a good back story. I like the game and I thought they did a good job on the tone and look of it, maybe a little soulless but I’ll give it another season if they get to make it.

Not even the ghoul? I thought his storyline was excellent.

Mad Men was brilliant all the way through. One of the better finales as well.

Yeah, I mean, it’s a slow burn for sure. But an incredible character study all the way to the end.

And I still have a mad crush on Megan Draper.

I’m 3 episodes into Black Doves with Keira Knightley.

It has been good so far.

If you like Black Doves, you should also like the movie Red Sparrow, which is about Russian female agents/assassins.

You do have to put up with Jennifer Lawrence’s attempts at acting

I find Keira Knightly killing people titillating.

Last three episodes are the best.

What a scene. Not sure you would need much more in life

And to think Don was so ungrateful. Selfish prick!

I still have that song (and imagery) bouncing around in my head from time to time. Find myself singing Zoo Be Zoo Be Zoo for no reason whilst going about my day.
