TV show thread (2022-?)

New series of Spartacus on the way.

Ivana Baquero (Pan’s Labyrinth but 15 year older) in this one.

I’ve just started watching Letterkenny on SBS. Enjoying it so far.

Once you’ve completed season 5 (I think) is the perfect time to start watching “Shoresy”.

Similar but different, probably less funny but better overall.

Anyone watch The Old Man on SBS?

Enjoyed episode 1 and looking forward to the rest.

We loved it. I think season 2 is on a different platform but don’t let that stop you, it is great

Great cast!

It was cancelled after season 2, so don’t get too invested.

Wait until you hear about season 3…

Checked out ‘Inside’ on Netflix last night. Australian production and actors, led by Guy Pearce with a couple of young (unknown to me) guys putting in very credible performances. Hard going drama set in a men’s prison. Well done and pretty harrowing at times. Recommended if you like your viewing bleak.

I do watch Essendon play..

Excited about this! 24 September. A sighting of Nate from Ted Lasso in the trailer

What I like most about this very likeable show is that they don’t ■■■■ around with gaps between seasons

Jackson Lamb is outstanding

Gary Oldman is on record saying he won’t be able to act in another role because Jackson Lamb is the ultimate character to play.

Hook it into my veins.

Finally I can let myself go, eat biscuits and chips, drink all day, never shower and fart publicly with abandon. It is a certain mans dream role and he’s seized it with both shaky hands

Dept. Q on Netflix was pretty good.

The last couple of episodes could have been trimmed a bit, but a pretty good gap filler.

Facebook has a user treating the ignorant with contempt over Department Q, by gleefully telling people a new story has been filmed.

The whole series of books has already been filmed…in Denmark where Jussi Adler-Olsen wrote them.

You have to work out what’s easier…listening to Scottish accents, or reading subtitles.

Tried out a new series on Britbox…..Death Valley.

50% Gavin & Stacey, 50% Midsomer

Timothy Spall stars as a TV star living out in mid-Wales after a career as superstar police detective Charles Caesar. Gwyneth Keyworth is the local detective, Janie Mallowan, who discovers that Caesar is living in seclusion in her village. She idolises the TV character and soon enough, is seeking help from Caesar.

Stacey’s mother, played by Melanie Walters, stars as Janie’s mum. Such a beautiful melodic accent, one of the best (IMO) in the English-speaking world, together with non-Glasgow Scots and Irish (except for County Cork, North Dublin and Belfast/Derry).

And a series has resurfaced on Britbox…or Prime…called David & Olivia (Naked in Scotland). Sadly missing the last 2 episodes…dunno why. David is driving to Edinburgh Airport to drop stuff off for his girlfriend(?) when he discovers a naked woman hiding in the back seat. Olivia’s a bit of a scallywag. The second series is in LA. She’s naked, but a little shy in front of the cameras…couple of bum shots though.

Really enjoyed Sirens on Netflix.
5 parts, pretty easy to smash, felt drawn in by the second half of the first ep (which is important to me because I feel like my attention span is shot).

Based on a play, which surprises me as it really feels like an adaptation of one of those…Nine Deadly Secrets (I have made this title up, I think) style books that women seem to like a whole lot.

But it’s funny and it’s clever and it’s human and warm, and Julianne Moore is always great.

Also has Kevin Bacon and Aussie Molly Alcock (Upright/House of the Dragon).
