I’d have to watch the fight again, but Reyes definitely put the sword to Jones and stayed active with his feet and his hands the whole time.
From what i saw, Reyes landed and threw more strikes in the first 2 rounds, probably lost the 3rd and potentially lost the last 2 rounds because of the take downs.
Having said that, Jones has put on some serious muscle and in the process he looks like he has lost a bit of that speed and evasiveness. The fall of Jones doesn’t look too far off.
I had Reyes winning the first 3 rounds and Jones the last 2.
To score it 4-1 in Jones’ favour is a disaster.
Also thought the Black Beast got lucky to win his fight. If they’re giving Jones rounds for taking a guy down for 1 second then Latifi won two rounds for two clear takedowns and strikes (despite both men doing far too much holding). That last minute was all Black Beast but fck to pays to be a favourite.
If you lose your feet in a take down, in my opinion at least, it should be counted - regardless of the time in control the opponent has.
Jones was incredibly lucky and in saying that, Reyes was exceptional. Some of the stuff he was pulling out was absolute class. Slipping the straight right and returning a clean uppercut in the same motion was one of the most subliminal things i’ve seen in the UFC.
I disagree. Every round is judged individually, so a fight can still be very close and one fighter dominate the scorecard.
Reyes was good, but for me Jones won the fight. Rounds 2 & 3 could have gone either way. But since Jones had ring control, I can see why Jones got the points off a couple of judges.
Great fight, and yes Reyes could very easily have gotten his arm raised, but it was not a robbery in any way.

You can kind of see how this was such a difficult fight to score, but ultimately a 4-1 to Jones is pretty stiff.
Interesting stats, but they don’t take into account take downs, damage and the fact that usually the fighter that finishes stronger gets the win.
