US Election - More Division or New Revision? (Part 1)

I’m brave from a distance

I didn’t know you were one of them. I mean, I had a feeling. Sorry to hear it and I hope you get better.

I have looked hard and while I have found many loonies in USA, I am yet to find the “Loony Left”. Definitely not the Democrat, nor Bernie Sanders, and if you read the platform of the Socialist Party of the USA, they seem quite beniign and law-abinding. https://www.socialistpartyusa.net/platform.

A very worthy sentiment, and one that in my 50 years in the ALP that most of us have fought for. Then you get the scumbags who crave for power and control, who just fark it for everyone.

This Portland convoy is the exact violence I’ve been expecting. An us vs them divide being created. A building belief from both sides that the government is not going to solve the problem. Propaganda to demonise fellow countrymen so that they are easier to vilify, turn fellow citizens into the enemy. Then encourage or allow gangs to form to go into conflict with the opposing camp. Once you’ve got two gangs in proximity that hate each other, thousands of guns in the area, violence is almost guaranteed.

It’s so incredibly predictable.

Look mate, you’ve made a lot of claims here in this post and previous. It would be nice for you to substantiate them. For example, you seem to be extrapolating the extremes of the left (which do exist) with the mainstream left. Which, given the Democrats are running on a mainstream platform, which is by Australian standards pretty conservative, is very disingenuous. For example:

  • Biden and the Democrats platform is explicitly against “defunding the police”.
  • Not even the extreme left want to kill whitey. You will need to substantiate that claim.
  • Biden and the Dems positions are pretty clearly not to tear the system down.

It would be interesting for you to post what your views to solving the problems are, since you believe it comes down to individuals. I’d be curious to compare them to the Democrat platform.

@wimmera1 (and others), can you please stop attacking Vinnie_D? Either take him seriously or ignore him. I know he’s probably (~99%) a troll. But while engaging him seriously may not achieve anything, the back and forth insults definitely isn’t and is just filling the thread with crap.

If he continues to post offensive language, then report him and he’ll get banned. But frankly, calling people nutjobs (as some have here) isn’t going to help either (and could get you guys banned if someone reports it).

I reckon @Vinnie_D would be an interesting person to have a friendly debate in person over a beer.

I’ve had some really insightful chats with Trump supporters in person. You can hit the exit button on the convo when you know that it isn’t going anywhere, talk about something else.

Internet ain’t good for that convo manoeuvre.

By reigning it in, I assume you mean reigning in extremism on both sides. I guess the answer to that question would sound like one of those magic wand answers. But, in reality, it truly is an answer something like that.

If we think the world is going to come up with an answer to its injustices by bringing in a system on either side, left or right, to which we can force everybody to conform, I would say that idea is batshit crazy.

The answer, I believe, comes from within the individual. Be the change you want to see. Be ethical. Be honest. Be fair. Be kind. Be loving. And hope and pray that the world system evolves to reflect your values and ethics. If enough people do that we can change the world.

BE THE ANSWER YOURSELF. The answer is not political it is ideological.

You wanna change the world? Change yourself.

This sort of behaviour is not the answer. How could mob behaviour like this possibly be the answer?

Is the below no longer true?

Vinnie D is VD Sucks? Damn I hate people changing their handles.

The rest still holds true.

That wasn’t aimed at one side of politics. Politics is like a monster with two heads which answer to powers pulling the strings. In that sense, yes, the system is rooted.

By the way, that cave analogy was from Plato, he was a pretty wise dude.

But surely if the whole system is keeping us down, both sides (talking binary, ‘cause that’s what all the cool kids do) are fully corrupted?

Oh no… Trump is the Qanon deity, come to save us?

Let me ask you a question.

Will the answer to the world’s problems come when one side, left or right, is successful at forcing the populace to do things their way?

Or will we eventually get the system right, when it reflects the ethics and morality of the populace which has been enlightened by inner reflection?

Here’s my answer. When the human population gets itself right, we will get the system right.

Anyone with a conservative view, or any view to the right, is brainwashed by Fox News into being a scared sheep. OBITV said so.

I just posted a clip of a mob of BLM protesters, black and white, inside a diner, terrifying diners into raising a fist. One woman had the ticker to refuse. Do you reckon that mob were trying to terrify people into becoming sheep for their Marxist cause? Hmm I wonder.
