Isn’t it just a defamation suit. I don’t think there is anything further than a monetary payout either way.

The precedent will be used to decide many other lawsuits in America and other countries. I think there’s one in Australia against Fox that is waiting on the verdict.

It also puts a clear stamp in the public record that Fox knowingly lied about the election.

And they’ll try to settle that one too.

Lachlan Murdoch’s case against Crikey?
Unfortunately, no matter what comes out in a US court for the Dominion case, it’s unlikely to be admissible in the Crikey action.

That’s the one. I saw some coverage that the US result would be impactful.

Not a lawyer. :man_shrugging:

That being said, there’s probably enough in the public domain that’s come out of the grand jury hearings that should at least make the Crikey action entertaining.

According to the Kangaroo Court website, Lachlan Murdoch added two more respondents to his defamation case which has delayed it until October, which has allowed Crikey to include some info from Dominion which shows Lachlan directly involved in what Fox knew about the election.

Also not a lawyer.

Murdoch has been selling off a lot of assets to enable a massive payout.

Not your best post placement either given that this is the US Politics Thread

Shame it did not go to judgment.
There was a recent case here, the other side of the coin, where two sisters were harassing Kristina Keneally with a law suit.
They were claiming damages for Keneally implementing an ICAC inquiry when she was NSW Premier
Following the ICAC findings, they were successfully prosecuted for fraud and one served jail time.
Towards the end of their case, the sisters wanted to withdraw their claims, but the Judge refused. He found unequivocally for Keneally, that their claims were baseless.
ADD
Mind you the sisters baseless claims would have been peddled in the Fowler electorate at the last Federal elections. Wonder who was funding their legal costs.
