Yeah, its like the obsession over Hitler/Stalin/Pol Pot/Franco/Mussolini/pick a Serbian war criminal, or any of another handful of hateful totalitarian dictators. Trump hasn’t ascended, (descended?) to that level as yet- but his current rhetoric suggests he’s certainly headed down that path. And Biden may be getting fragile, but he has actually achieved a great deal more than Trump in his presidency. So please don’t conflate the two.
Fixed that. Treating anything like that rant actually seriously is like treating that new breed of politicised cafe proprietor or hairdresser seriously. You just shoosh them and go somewhere else to waste your money.
There was a plan for a S P A C ( SPECIAL PURPOSE ACQUISITION COMPANY) called DWAC ( Digital World Acquisition Company) which had loads of investors cash and was poised to acquire Truth Social from Trump.
Trouble was the SEC investigated the ■■■■ and found a number of infringements of SEC rules for SPACs and directed that the ■■■■ be wound up with funds to be returned to the investors. I bet they were rapt they avoided being investors in another Trump crock of ■■■■.
At the end of the day the American electors choose their President and they are the primary ones who suffer the consequences from their choice - Whatever, America becomes after the election will have little affect on the rest of the world - Possibly if life changes in America, Australia will come to its senses and rely less on America.
Countries have different systems of Government throughout the world whether it be democracies, dictatorships, oligarchies, constitutional monarchies, totalitarianism, autocracies etc - The world seems to survive adequately for the most part, despite the differences in political systems - At the end of day, it’s not for me or others to tell Americans or from any country how to vote in their election - They are big enough and ugly enough to choose their President. This forum like many others has an obsession with Trump - I can sort of understand the media running with it because it generates clicks and sales, but why the ordinary punter on a forum would spend so much time discussing Trump has me beat - Look at the person and there’s not much to discuss.
At the beginning of the day I can’t possibly agree that there won’t be substantial effects for everyone else, whether for better or worse. That makes no sense given the role they play. The world will mirror the US. Sorry Yaco, you’re not going to convince me differently with some sweet airy nothings. Also, I care what happens within their borders.
If the current divisive wretchedness of Dutton and Co continues to get traction, aided by young Murdoch, and we end up with a Dutton Trump combo, say good night unless you’re a thief who likes confessional.
In the meantime, to paraphrase a learned Blitzer, when are the atheists going to get over Johnson, he’s living in their heads rent free, what power does he even have?!…
“ The speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, has delivered his verdict on the separation of church and state: it is a “misnomer”.
The second-in-line to the presidency informed Americans on Tuesday that their time-honored conception of one of the founding principles of the country was a “misunderstanding”. Speaking to CNBC’s Squawk Box, he tried to turn the conventional wisdom about the founders’ intentions on its head and claimed what they really wanted was to stop government interfering with religion, not the other way around.” guardian
I don’t think Tuberville has really thought this issue through…
“Republicans are loath to side with Democrats in a fight that’s wedged them between the military and anti-abortion activists. And despite the unenviable position he’s put GOP senators in, they are still hesitant to throw the Alabamian overboard due to his friendly, back-slapping persona.”
Haha.
If it gets out of the WHO, the WHO could go elsewhere to purchase all that surplus wheat and corn.
The Russians could fill in the wheat gap in food aid.
The US taxpayer would be effectively subsidising US exports with the loss of valuable long term contracts with international agencies.
Not with US money they won’t. If a republican becomes president you can be sure that their UN program funding will decrease dramatically. The US contributes over 20% of the UN’s budgets.
Do you mean the USA has been paying its UN bill recently ? That’s news to me.
The UN should never have set up in New York in the first place. It’s high time they got out of the USA and moved to a third world neutral country. Think of the value of their New York property if they auctioned it on the open market - or even just rented it out at NY business rates !
The US had to call on UNHCR to provide assistance for those affected by Hurricane Katrina. It paid the UNHCR for the cost. Technically none of them were refugees.
