To some Silicon Valley elites, Donald Trump “is a fellow victim of the state, unjustly persecuted for his bold ideas. Practically, he is also the shield they need to escape accountability,” writes Chris Hughes, a co-founder of Facebook.

It’s brilliant that people face real consequences for inciting violence against anyone.

People incited violence, others were actually violent. Both groups were given the opportunity to defend their actions in court.

People who think prosecuting both groups is woke are weird. Does the concern about it apply to hate speech by Muslims? noting again there was actual violence this time.

Donald Trump demands NBC bring back Johnny Carson - who died in 2005

Donald Trump demanded NBC bring back Johnny Carlson, who has been dead for nearly 20 years.

The former US President claimed the Late Night Shows hosted by Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel are “all dying”, during a rally in Pennsylvania on Monday (23 September).

Trump said: “When I first ran in 2015 or was thinking about running I went on [Jimmy’s] show, The Tonight Show, which is dying.

“They’re all dying. Where is Johnny Carson? Bring back Johnny. It made you appreciate the greatness of Johnny Carson. These three guys are so bad.”

Most Trumpers wouldn’t even register those dudes, he’s just advertising for them, illustrating how much rent free space they take up in his slumlord mind, maybe just hoping he can motivate some nutjob to take one of them out. Such a spoilt little boy in a rancid fat suit

There’s a lot more vile rubbish to quote from Trump before contriving a “story” like this.

We know what will happen the day after he wins. There will be insane amounts of racist nastiness. I still remember a 5yo boy getting in my daughter’s face the day after the 2016 election and screaming “I voted for Trump!”. His parents had recently moved to SF from Iowa so I figured what was going on.

Not that it matters, because everyone knows it’s tight and anything could still ‘happen’, here’s Nate ‘got it right that one time’ Silver’s graph thingy…

Plus 5 Pennsylvania! Very good numbers for Harris

From what we’re seeing in the polls, and take those with a huge grain of salt, it seems Trump is gaining in the sun belt and Harris is gaining in Pennsylvania, and possibly Georgia.
The movements both ways are small, though.

It’s all pretty much within error bounds still. I’m not going to read too much into polls at all.
People focus on them far too much and on issues far too little imho.

There is a reason people here focus on issues “far too little”. It’s because most of the US electorate doesn’t focus on them at all.

It’s like they are at a restaurant but saying “Hmm, what shall we order: this gourmet dish that is very well recommended by experts, or that ■■■■ sandwich with a side order of Salmonella?”
