To be fair, they’ve probably sacked the CIA, so someone else has to do it.

he’s also likely to slap tarriffs on our steel and aluminium even though we have a trade surplus with them. time to find a new daddy or make another new alliance of our own . we should be excluding the Americans as much as we possibly can , give them what they want. isolate them from all of their former allies

I think the key thing to note here is that this is what Americans want. It’s not just Trump, more than half of the voting population want America to be selfish and a bully.

That problem doesn’t go away with a change of government. The worst traits of Americans- the arrogance and the entitlement- have become endemic

To be strictly accurate, just under 30% of the voting-age population voted for Trump.

I’d go as far as to say that not turning out to vote against MAGA is tacit approval of it

To be fair, 20 million voting-age people (more than an Australia-worth) were denied the right to vote.

Everyone else… sure.

A lot of Americans want America first policy.

  • Close the borders, come through proper immigration channels no cue jumping.
  • Less Foreign Aid, where has been shown were some fraud, look after Americans first
  • Less military involvement in foreign countries
  • Sensible spending*

Here we have direct evidence of the effect of tariffs and who pays.

From the BBC:

"
In the US, the economy is already starting to show the effects of the disruption from Trump’s policies.

Imports spiked in January on the back of tariff fears, with America’s trade deficit increasing 34% to more than $130bn (£100bn), the Commerce Department reported.

Gregory Brown, who leads BenLee, a company that makes big trailers, said he had had to adjust prices multiple times over the last five weeks as a result of Trump’s policies, which have included an order, set to go into effect later this month, expanding tariffs on steel and aluminium. But Mr Brown, who attended Mr Bessent’s speech, said that for now, his customers are agreeing to pay the higher prices – a sign that the economy is holding up.
…
Others were more worried that the back-and-forth would cause economic damage.

“I think we’re going to have a recession before whatever succeeds in the future,” one investment manager said. “You’re going to get the bad before you get the good.”
"

Nixon floated the dollar. Trump has floated the tariff. The rate depends on whoever he spoke to last. It’s doubtful that it would be a US producer, who needs certainty.

This is the key statement and the thing to watch.

They are saying it will get better. Perhaps it will. Perhaps it won’t.

See you are trying to make friends again

Be careful. He’ll call you old.
Like being old is a bad thing.

I am old, not that anything the Truck driving HR Guru could say anything to upsat me.

Setting aside these are Trump supporters being interviewed, are you now referring purely to economic perception on the ground in the US with your ‘wait and see, nothing bad has actually happened yet’ schtick? Because if that’s the only thing you’re looking at you should make it clear and then people might discuss it with you.

Not at all. I’m not interested in perception or opinion. There is so much ■■■■ to work through if you live in this space.

Stabby posted direct evidence. I simply responded.
