I thought Carney did a great job with Trump. He refused to get baited, didn’t walk into the trap of insults, no personal attacks on Trump. He only interjected with a few hard facts that didn’t give Trump the opening for alternative fake news.
Ultra diplomatic presentation in the English style, including his body gestures and nuanced facial expression, eliminated any opportunity for JD Vance or Rubio to participate. They just sat uncomfortably on the couch, sullen office boys.
And in his dress, showed up Vance with his large vulgar tie, trying to use it as a show of dominance and power.

Diplomacy does work better when you have to negotiate with a super power, no matter how disgusting the people you have to negotiate with.

I’m pretty sure there was a mutual agreement a few years ago to tone down the drill/marching aspect of these things as it was leading to the guards getting leg and back injuries. It sounds ridiculous, but I can assure you that doing drill sucks, doing it with all the extra flourishes and leg stamping would be hell.

I can’t wait for the 14 June military parade. Apart from it being his birthday, the date has some other significance.
Trump said he wanted something like the French 14 July Champs parade. The trouble is that everything he copies from the French is cheap tacky furniture and other decor. Even his own team had to stifle their laughs when he compared the Elysee decor to Mar a Lago.
