Not here to gloat about this because the situation in Texas is dire. It is freezing cold and millions are without power. They need help!

GOP and right wing media blaming the green new deal.

Renewables are predictable in dropping off in winter. Losing 30GW of gas fired generation, with no interconnect to other states…

🤦

And the funny thing about that is that the green deal hasn’t taken effect yet.

Mayor of Colorado City, Texas was forced to resign for some reason. Can’t work out why. ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  cancel culture.

Good God!!

And a bloke that can’t string something the size of a short ā€œletterā€ together w/out stuffing up spelling and or context a half dozen times was actually voted in as Mayor??

Better off w/out him,… and by the standard of that rant, I guess it was inevitable he’d shoot himself in the head eventually.

What a Cockhed.

I have a bit of sympathy with him. Sometimes it is hard to stay polite with your citizens when they make dumb demands. And Texans can be really dumb and demanding; anmd getting elected Mayor doesn’t mean you can spell or are intelligent.

No wonder here are a lot of preppers in the USA. Like 20% of the population. Smart move

Out of curiosity, any news on how the Texas business people you deal with are reacting to this weather and the events?

I kinda get what he was trying to say. If he said something like this, it might have been ok…

ā€œFirstly, this power outage should not have happened. We will be doing everything we can after this ends to pursue anyone guilty of negligence and to advocate for improvements to prevent this ever happening again.

But as things stand, this is a horrific situation for our city. The city does not have the manpower or resources to help the vast number of individuals who need it. The power companies are focused on returning supply as fast as possible.

As horrible as it is to say, there’s not going to be anyone available to come and help you if you call. But here’s some advice for you and your neighbors to get through this.

…list of things to do…

Together we can blah blaa positive blaaā€¦ā€

I’ve seen the attitude during bushfires from many that expect a fire truck will be at their house. Their lack of planning and self sufficiency put themselves and their families at risk. The blame was always directed at the fire service.

But in this situation, nobody should be expected to have a plan to be self sufficient during an extended power failure in deadly freezing conditions.

Why do they have to choose between sink or swim when they have no water?
