Although Bloomberg was nominally independent in his second term.
Anyway, what I’m saying being slightly “left” of the Democratic centerline didn’t hurt at all in New York, the center of all things capitalism.
Of course, it’s not going to work in Dakota or Kentucky, but I hardly think the Democrats would nominate someone like that in those states.

It’s a mixed - capitalism and socialism - economy, as I noted. Many welfare, infrastructure and service systems are utterly socialist. It has a capitalist component like most developed economies, yes, and stronger quasi-spiritualism about the economic and moral propriety of this component, yes, which has taken the credit for the benefits of the socialist component for generations.
Mamdani et al are just putting the credit back where it is due.
That’s what voting is for, and the policies are popular with the electorate - when offered to them. And wondering what’s possible from there within this already operating system. (And, in NYC, real new benefits are already flowing.)
I’m familiar with them. What are the problematic ones?

I mean which do you think will be problematic for the Dems (should they adapt any DSA policies) in seeking election?
I honestly think Americans haven’t really had a chance - thanks to the one party (two colours) system - to vote for these policies and demonstrate that they’re too much for them.
