US politics - the new orange wave (Part 7)

Hint: Watch the rise in US food prices.

It should not take long before the MAGA faithful start hurting. IMO, this must be their weak spot and that where reciprocal tariffs are being targeted.

…and guess who supplies 80% of the potash used by US farmers?

yep: Canada.

Also, Trumps own goal as USAID have cancelled US$350B in grain contracts; most of which is now rotting on the ports, on transport ships and in the paddock.

Iets see if Russia work the fert deal to their advantage. I hope they “out Trump” him, pun intended, once he gives the final finger to Canada.

Also, is the hydroponics dont need fert a joke? Asking for me, not a friend.
If you give crops only water they die.

Controlled environment production takes so much energy you need hectares under glass to break even. Then theres production vs consumption. The type of energy used. You dont have enough coal to sustain that Donny.

I feel like I have asked this so many times here but…

When will our dollar improve against theirs??

What makes you think Trump won’t just threaten to invade Canada unless they drop the tariffs on fertilzer. I mean there is nothing to suggest he wouldn’t do that and who would stand up for Canada if he did?

It didnt come into my equation as it is so aggresive, especially to a so calked ally.

You’re saying he actually is that much of a carnt?

Would you endorse such an action?

BTW, I would stand up for Canada. More should.

We are American ■■■■ slave, they will ■■■■ us up the arse

I’m interested to see how, or more like if, he stands up to China’s tarrifs actualy.
Bullies only prey on the weaker.

No way, but I don’t think it’s a stretch to think that Trump would threaten anyone. He doesn’t care about norms. Might is right and all that.
Did you ever think a voted out president would encourage storming of congress to get him self reappointed president? I’m left dazed every morning waking up to things he says and does.

Not necessarily . You underestimate the human proclivity for self martyrdom in a cult. Trump’s entire political career is built on avoiding accountability. It’s always someone else’s fault. He was sent by God, if it’s not working out then some other force is in play. He tells straight lies to his people, blatant demonstrable lies, and they accept it.

Huge groups of people have willingly followed monstrous leaders - at all levels and all scales - to heinous acts and destruction. The complete lack of critical thinking on display, and what it too often leads to, is what I’ve been repeating in these threads for years.

It’s not hysteria or scaremongering. it’s actually playing out in real time. The Nazi style rhetoric and demonization techniques weren’t invented. They were real, and obvious. It wasn’t an invention that Musk promoted AfD, nor was it an invention that AfD are trying to rewrite history. It’s not an invention that Trump is without question taking actions that help Putin. It’s not an invention that Vance went to meet AfD rather than the German chancellor. It’s not an invention that Musk has become the de facto superior to everyone in Government bar , maybe, Trump. It’s not an invention that Trump new full well who Project 2025 are, and what the playbook is, yet was allowed to pretend otherwise during the campaign. It’s not an invention that he’d put scandalously inappropriate and unqualified individuals into the key government positions. Nor that they’d try to stack the civil services with cult members rather than long term professionals. It’s fascinating to watch the predictions of all this written off as over-reacting, elitist know it alls and scaremongering - remember the “he just says stupid things, he doesn’t actually mean it” - even as it has all been rolled out. Fwiw, there is still deafening silence on all this from far far too many, despite being asked about it, from US senators and congressmen/women all the way down to lowly football forums.

And so it is not at all clear cut that the bubble will burst soon. The ideological nutters of this cult may well follow it all the way to metaphorical Jonestown outcomes. We do love a good , nihilistic, extremist martyrdom as a species.

Yep, agreed. He threatens everyone everyday.
Actually boots on the ground invade though.
I think as the rest of the world starts to push back, as China is doing, Canada would also.
He is trying to nullify Russia with the Ukraine play, China calls him out.
Its game on. About time too.

I still don’t understand why trump wouldn’t want to see off Putin, and install someone who’s a bit of a ‘clean skin’ and work with them to rebuild Russia, and still make as much money.

He’d be the guy who fulfilled 60+ years of propaganda. The Europeans would be loving him. The Chinese and North Koreans would be staying in their lane.

It just seems like the US can only be worse off everywhere once all this stuff gets done.

Not the first time the US has planned a Canadian invasion- here’s one that was classified until 1974 which begins with a poison gas attack on Halifax War Plan Red - Wikipedia . There was some concern ANZACS would hit the Philippines. We need to do our part to keep the True North strong and free.
