US politics - the new orange wave (Part 7)

“Today the United States launched a trade war against Canada, their closest partner and ally, their closest friend. At the same, they are talking about working positively with Russia, appeasing Vladimir Putin, a lying, murderous dictator. Make that make sense,” a visibly angry Trudeau said.

“What he wants to see is a total collapse of the Canadian economy because that will make it easier to annex us,” Trudeau said. “That is never going to happen. We will never be the 51st state.”

Me thinks the Canadians … as outnumbered and opposed to this sudden sovereign and economic challenge, will be an adversary the U.S will live to regret.

So Trumps bullying tactics get a major win for the US.

The MAGA crowd will be punching the air over there.

This.

The latest I’ve heard from DOGE is that they are planning large cuts and a potential dismantling/change to their social security system.

Which will cause all sorts of chaos to millions. Interestingly I’d imagine to lots of MAGA voters(who I assume are disproportionately Grey coming from the conservative side of politics)

Musk may have some truths in calling it unsustainable - but you would think making changes to how it operates would take time.(and most of their savings is how and what they pay out versus say number of workers distributing benefits)

Oh dear USA.

And imagine having the world’s richest man at the helm of reforms. What a ■■■■ storm

JFK documents, Epstein etc is just a distraction.

The zelenskyy tweet isn’t rolling over it anything like that - it’s just a tweet, nothing substantial in and of itself… Which is exactly how Trump operates. Ukraine is rolling its eyes, playing his stupid childish game, because they have actual mortality and livelihoods to deal with, and unfortunately US resources are very relevant (locked as they are in a bedroom with Veruca Salt).

of course they need the US. but to frame it as caving in is utter BS and very condescending to a country that was invaded illegally and decimated , and the USA has turned it into a shonky real estate agent deal is utterly appalling

like when china tried to screw is over the Morrison government China covid behind, it made us realise we need to diversify out interests in regard to trade we need to do the same thing as far as security and the USA goes , we will always still need them but we should also look to other ways of dealing with it because clearly the USA is no longer stable or reliable

Mind you, some MAGA morons on X are mad at Canada for imposing tariffs. As if Trump didn’t start the whole thing

Well one thing of note it’s not like countries haven’t been lumping tariffs or other indirect taxes on imported goods. That and currency manipulation (ahem China).

Trumps new though in that he does all these dirty tricks out in the open.

Makes me wonder if behind closed doors they do anything. I doubt it. Not for their country anyway. It’s just trump inc making himself wealthy.

Looking forward to the US and Isreal deal where US demand all of Isreal’s minerals and resources. Just assuming this will be the case right?

Elon Musk often takes his son X Æ A-Xii (also known as “Lil X”) with him to work and other events. Musk has called X his “emotional support human”…I call him a human shield.

I’m kind of intrigued that all the people who were saying that Trump is fantastic and will get the American economy back on track, have disappeared without a trace.

And poor, and from horribly underperforming states heavily reliant on welfare and the productivity of a few high performers
