IMO, it’s disrespectful of you to misrepresent my post on the role of the WHO
We’ve tripled average life expectancy in the last 150 years.
Western medicine is doing a lot right.
We’re also discovering a whole lot of stuff about plastics and gut health at the moment, the research is slow but catching up.
Lots of people shout about new ideas, it’s the role of scientists to prove or disprove those ideas. A lot of the stuff that RFK has promoted has been proved to be unadulterated bunkum, some of it has been proved to be true.
Oh ok, if I did I didn’t mean to…
The WHO to me in this opportunity is irrelevant.
This is about busting open the barriers to effectively helping patients. Governments, big pharma, medical profession, funding, allied health practitioners recognition etc. I thought you suggested the WHO have an important part to play in this which I believe they don’t. My bad!
I didn’t say Western medicine is not doing alright. It does amazing work for so many people. I’m saying people battling many debilitating chronic illnesses are not being adequately supported and their paths to recovery are in many instances blocked by vested interests, red tape, funding mismanagement and poor support. Many others currently being treated with these conditions are being treated for symptom management which ultimately has limitations on their quality of life with often ongoing complications. And that’s a fact sadly…
What you’re saying is what I’ve quoted from you below, and implying that not only is nothing of this nature already occurring, but that a proven liar and corrupt figure whose last term resulted in the dismissal and departure of hundreds of prominent scientists and health officials has the remotest interest in ‘deep dives’ on public health or taking on big pharma. How utterly ludicrous.
“Mr. Trump… is going to try and lift the lid, and understand more the genesis of chronic illness impacting children and Americans. He wants to know what’s truly causing these illnesses: External environments, our food, toxins in our homes and our lifestyles.
He’s proposing sn honest conversation with big pharma and transparency around a thorough deep dive.
Mate it is Trump, dumb as a rock and only interested in himself. What over the last decade has you believing he is interested in anything else.
It’s just more partisan fantasy
Maybe…. At least the mindset of the next administration in this area is very well placed. And this is welcome news for many people currently suffering.
The midnset of the next administration is the grift, nothing else.
Except it’s not, and it’s not. Edit, what primmer said.
Opinions dressed as statement of fact, the same old play
Opions based on the last 8 years. It won’t take too long to appear.
I’m sorry, but you are being conned by the conman of the century.
His whole philosophy is division and distraction, targeting sections of the public to let them know that there is an evil out there he is gonna take on, and that he is on their side.
He’s not gonna do this, but he’s gonna tell everyone he did.
People should not forget how lazy he is
I’m going to sound naive, but what I find genuinely odd is that RFKJ has been put in charge of health; a portfolio in which he has no education, no administrative experience that I can see, and personal opinions that have been (to be kind) many times disproven.
When what he does have is an outstanding record in environmental protection and reform…
Yes, we’ve seen what he’ll do, he’ll do it again, and has made it explicitly clear that he will do it with abandon second time around. Dmaplestone likes to make claims on behalf of ‘the people’ and statements of authenticity. The incoming administration has a ‘good mindset’ on public health. Ok
how on earth does anyone believe trump has the interests of the down trodden at heart in any what shape or form?. what has he ever done in his life to give people this opinion
He eats Macca’s and watches wrestling.
I do have something in common with Trump. I am a little oder so anytime someone asks me to do something that requires effort or cost then my dementia and deafness get much much worse. They eventually give up
You’ve narrowed it down to less than a handful of diseases, on which there is ongoing research on prevention and treatments to manage diseases not at the stage of prevention or cure.
The WHO doesn’t have the purposes of inventing cures, but it does have a role in funding and coordinating management/ prevention of diseases, including access to vaccinations and treatments.
One of the biggest issues with diabetes is lifestyles , inequality in prevention, management and access to treatment in advanced stages.
Look no further than the prevalence of diabetes in our indigenous population and access to management/treatments. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were similar prevalences in ethnic and poorer communities in the USA .
Then you have global cooperation which has served to eradicate some diseases in most of the world. The most recent being malaria in Egypt.
Before the magic bullet can be found to cure ( or prevent through genetic engineering or eliminating external causes) in regard to the diseases you have referenced, there is an essential role for management.
In the interim, there is extensive research around the world on the likes of Parkinsons and MS. No doubt they could be found through a Google search. They haven’t been ignored.
