US politics - the new orange wave (Part 7)

Do you think I actually care a tiny bit if you block me? Do it. You wave it around like anyone actually cares. Or if Swoodleys blocks me? I like Swoodley and have had good discussions with him outside the thread, but I guess being able to agree to disagree in the politics thread is a bridge too far. He’s the same person who thinks women and blacks are just plain stupid because they don’t agree with him? Which I called him out for any obviously he didn’t like. Where is the “complexity” in women/blacks being stupid because they disagree with him? Or you who uses mocking terms that is offensive to disabled or your “complex” discussion like when you talked about Vance ■■■■■■■ couches or having Trumps ■■■ over this face? Yes, please tell me about your amazing “political identity” and “complexity” :joy:

My original post aimed at Harris being a horrific candidate and Biden basically being senile, I’m sorry if your high level of complexity took that as support for Trump when the discussion was why Harris lost but once again I’ll happily wait for a single quote that shows I support Trump, and let me guess once again, you won’t. My criticism of Harris through the cycle proved right in every manner, no policies, no interviews, hiding away and being a poor interviewer cost her.

Also, the discussion of if mainstream media favours the Democrats which I guess if you want to pretend it doesn’t then that’s totally fine. Fox and Twitter favour Trump too, I didn’t think these were groundbreaking notions. You’ll never guess who The View think should have won either…

So your point is that the Democrats aren’t left wing technically anymore, so technically CNN etc aren’t in fact favouring “the left”? But they do favour the Democrats… Odd point.

Simple question, who does CNN etc. favour, Democrats or Republicans? Who does Fox favour? It’s not groundbreaking notions here.

You didn’t say the MM favours the Dems. You said the MM were heavily left wing. Very different & very wrong. I think it is this sort of fundamental lack of comprehension & understanding of political identity that is causing people to lose patience with you.

Take out the heavily and its probably right with the correct context.

There was some interesting takes post Trumps victory. A few in shock and wanting to leave the country

The view was a must watch.

Whoever wins the election - the networks will likely put on more people pushing the winners viewpoints.

Musk may even buy MSNBC as has been touted, hopefully not.

Point me to where the US MM consistently argues for nationalisation of industries. You know, actual left wing politics

Its probably not that its more barracking for the Democrats, or rather against trump / maga.

Some nationalization isn’t a bad thing per se.
At least when Australia had Govt owned banks, Electricity companies, telephone companies, we actually invested in engineers, apprentices, small business etc and there was a pathway to go on to private business once qualified/trained

Your just arguing definitions. Left and right are relative to an imaginary center. When discussing US politics it’s obvious that the left is referencing the democrats and the right the republicans.

Ok, you seem upset. The US election’s over, one group of billionaires/millionaires won and the other didn’t, there’s been plenty of deep dives here and you’ve just repeated yours a few times while ignoring the point this time, like other times. Be well and try not replying to people who you regard as the lowest of the low or extreme left if you don’t care what they have to say.

I don’t give two ■■■■■ about US media and their predilections or biases. In my four long trips to the US I’ve seen a lot I like and a lot that disgusts me. I have an interest in what the country will be like now for my friends who live there and my partner’s extended family there. I trust their information more than Hannity’s or Whoopi’s or whoever you get your non traditional opinions from. seeya crazy person!

I mean that gut is hugely impressive. Like, aspirational

CNN is a sham of a network trying to pretend it isn’t tabloid trash.

having just come back from there, i can’t work out how you could watch multiple channels long enough to establish comparitive bias without your brain atrophying to the point of losing the ability to read and write

Of course I’m arguing definitions. That’s the point. The Dems may be left of the GOP, who are now borderline fascist, but that doesn’t make them leftwing by any measure of policy.

Posters above are confusing media bias towards the Dems with being leftwing which is fundamentally incorrect.

It is lazy and misleading to conflate left-of-fascists with ‘heavily left wing’.

Edit: shouldn’t reply to stuff when I’m trying to wean myself off some threads a bit
