US politics - waiting to see, it’s only July 2025 (part 9)

I’m no lawyer, but surely the publisher can sue for using the Franklin likeness without authorization or permission?

My FIL likes the term ‘ankle’ - 3 feet lower than a c#nt

I’m sure they can try, but it’s probably not worth it given Trump’s control of the courts.

“The doctor said it was the best result he has ever seen as a doctor.”

Stop, stop, we’re already dead.

LoFlyer rusty on reptile physiology, poor Franklin indeed. One thing we can agree on, Franklin is behaving very much like an International Terrorpin

I bet the other turtles picked on Franklin for having tortoise feet instead of webbed feet or flippers.

Poor Franklin.

Can’t believe I’ve spent as much time as I have on Franklin’s taxonomy.
He seems to be a combination of both.
If I had to pick one, I’d say a Russian or Horsfield’s Tortoise.

It’s a nice way to distract ourselves from the fact that if a 13 year-old boy made that illustration, you’d send him to the school counsellor.
And that it wasn’t a 13 year-old boy that made that illustration (which would be somewhat understandable, because their empathy hasn’t kicked in yet), but the US Government.

It’s both. He took his mates to Scotland , on hunting trips etc.

However, I think he’s completely screwed anyway. Someone leaked an internal FBI paper highly critical of Patel and Bongiorno to Miranda Devine ( of all people). Given who it went to, probably from Trump / Bondi, who is plummeting so hard that he needs to start firing scapegoats.

Legit embarrassing if true.

I’m no lawyer either, but it would probably fall under parody laws or something.

Interesting fact. During the Iraq war in 2006, three US servicemen in the 3rd battalion of the 101st Airborne were convicted of murdering Iraqi prisoners. They claimed that they received an order from Colonel Michael Steele to “kill all military aged males” on an island. A claim that was corroborated by a few witnesses, but was disputed by Steele (and others) as to the actual wording and intent. Steele was a veteran of Mogadishu ( Black Hawk Down) and extremely popular as an ultra aggressive officer with his men. Steele was never charged with murder / war crimes , but he received a military reprimand that pretty much ended his career. The soldiers received between 9 months and 18 years.

Guess who else served in the 3rd battalion of the 101st Airborne as a civil affairs officer under Steele in 2006?

Yep. Pete Hegseth. Funny ol world, ain’t it?

It’s astonishing to think that they’ve not just used one of the world’s elite military units in a role that should be carried out by coast guard / law enforcement , but have just admitted that some of the special forces units / command have committed war crimes in breach of their own legal guidelines of illegal orders.
