If Vig comes on as expected, then I’d be looking at selling Bryan off even if he is entrenched in the 22. The benefit of playing two ruckman is both get exposure and increase their value at trade table.
Build around Draper and sell Bryan, play Vigo who is a better forward, and then repeat the process with Gerreyne if needed. Basically sell the guy with higher value and back in the younger guy if there’s enough talent.
Nguyen never really played forward at junior level i saw him from about the age of 16, so wrapped he played well. Also wrapped saad seems to have gotten his zip back.
Thanks for the commentary guys much appreciated, sounds like we have some good young talent coming through so that the VFL will be fun to follow this season. What sort of player is Day-Wicks, sounds like he has some goal sense, is he another smallish forward prospect?
Vigo, SEH, Clarke, Unwin, Johnson, Nguyen, and Day-Wicks all look to have the ability to play senior footy at some stage. Gerryne might be a slower burn.
The young talent is hopefully going to make it easier to move on those older players the only younger guy I am worried about is Lual has all the physical attributes but hasn’t shown much yet in games
Shiel has been tried lots of times in lots of places. He’s always been excellent in many ways but his kicking has always let down him and the team. There is no reason to suppose that it will be any different this year, whether in defence or somewhere else. The fact is, if he’s in our best 22, then our best 22 is not very good.
He will be in the team, but he shouldn’t be. We should be playing someone who can use the ball better or at least is capable of learning. Shiel is too old a dog to learn new tricks.
