Box Hill earned a home final. I’m fine with them picking whichever venue they like.
Tend to agree.
I would hope we would do the same
If it means a heap of your own fans won’t even be able to attend?
Personally I’d hope we would have enough sense to find a neutral venue and reward the fans that have been shafted by this club my whole life, while also being able make the best profit to help recoup the never ending list of payouts we’ve had to endure.
I don’t think AFL clubs see VFL finals as some lucrative financial opportunity. They’d make fk all off them I’d imagine.
We make ■■■■ all every year paying out people. I’d hope we take any cent on offer
If our fans had been packing out homes games all year it might justify it but I think home ground advantage is still pretty important.
At least the VFL allows that option whereas we are stuck playing at Adelaide Oval infront of a few thousand fans. Would’ve loved it to be at Norwood yesterday
We had a packed Hill for our 1st final so I dare say we would pack out a bigger final vs an arch rival.
And home ground advantage banks on you being to be able to create an atmosphere, which is less imposing when it’s 3k as opposed to 10k.
It’s not as if the advantage comes from playing in your suburb, half the guys would likely be driving further to get to our side of the city in all honesty
The home ground advantage comes from playing on a ground you know well thanks to either training or playing on. Most grounds have their quirks and players that train or play there regularly often handle it better. Home grounds should also have better changerooms and facilities for the home side.
At least it isn’t Dingley
I think their AFLW is there this weekend otherwise it might have been
Surely there are other grounds available in Melbourne
We just need a Time Machine and a way to ensure we win more games to finish ahead of box hill on the ladder and then Windy Hill is available
Maybe if this was the bush footy league c. 1947
I’m pretty certain they would still be now. I’d imagine most VFL sides have pretty decent set ups at their home grounds
I’d be shocked if the Geelong rooms at GMHBA stadium aren’t better than the opposition rooms.
That doesn’t mean the opposition rooms are ■■■■, they’d still be pretty good, just not as good.
With the amount of cash spent on training facilities the last 10-15 years you’d hope so.
Tickets on sale Tues midday
I’m actually in Melbourne this week for the NFL game and have a flight home Saturday night. What’s the chances of getting from Box Hill to Tulla for a 6.55pm flight Saturday arvo? I’d presume the game will finish 4.30-5ish.
