How much?
Would you give a player a job at your business? A free or cheap rental that you own? Do you currently do player sponsorships for VFL listed players?
Not to pick on what you said (or anyone else who cares about our VFL program), I’m just saying there’s a big difference between caring about us having a good VFL program and doing something to help improve it.
I took a lot more interest in the vfl this year than other years and it’s apparent that the culture is lacking. They definitely took steps in the right direction but it’s disappointing that we couldn’t hold onto Fitzgerald and cootee.
Hopefully we get the side sorted early and have more time to get everything in place. We need the vfl to be successful to help the AFL listed players and to create a better culture at the club.
I care because we need a strong V.F.L. / Reserve side to put pressure on the A.F.L. players.
A high standard is required across all teams and players, not that there has for a long time, up until last year, it has started, hope it continues, and at the same time the bar keeps being raised higher and higher all the time.
No idea.
He was doing well as a forward. Got a few games, went back to VFL. Then injured. Then played down back. Then delisted.
At a guess, Mitchell Lewis developed a little quicker, so they prioritised him.
They probably didn’t feel Jekka’s VFL form translated to the AFL game.
That’s just a guess though.
He was one of the ones where he was rated top 20 as a 17 year old pre his 18 year. (one to watch)
And his draft year was average, missed the draft and went as a rookie, I wanted him as a rookie KPF. was coached by Ryan O’Keefe.
This was the article i remember
Emerson Jeka
Height/Weight: 196cm/90kg Date of Birth: 18/9/01 Club: Vic Metro/Western Jets Position: Key forward
One of the leading tall forward prospects in next year’s pool. Jeka is a big and strongly-built goalkicker who is also a long and booming kick. He will need to work on elements of his game next year but has the size and stature, plus the talent, to be able to stand out as a marking option in attack.

I’m liking the idea of getting these borderline AFL blokes into the VFL. It’s a great development to see work being put into the team a lot earlier too.
Some of these blokes may feel they have another shot at a mid season position too.
Keep going…. Add some talented young blokes and we will be a lot better.
The concern is that some of these blokes will walk, when they don’t get picked up in the MSD…… and chase coin in the Country for the second half of the season.
That’s the problem with dangling the carrot for a possible list spot.
