Yes, they are still called that despite the huge sums of money spent on players
I dont think they have earned that trust yet. They have earned a short window to not over judge yet…to get things right as they are new and working to uplift club programs… but i cant trust club as yet tbh until i see the fruits of the process
Narkle was a good get last year. we needed more help though.
Positives are getting players already rather than chasing guys in january.
A more competitive VFL side will aid our development of listed efc players.
I’d love an insight into what is our process and strategy with regards to making up the composition of the team. No doubt there is plenty going on behind the scenes but I see new announcements nearly every day in the SANFL and it seems the bulk of the clubs try to fill their list by the end of November whereas we seem to still be recruiting much later. Tassie has been a bit of a gold mine lately and I wonder how much interest the club has in chasing Tassie players
We have a process and strategy?
I’m expecting a bit of a WA flavour this year if Rosa attracks some Peel talent.
Interesting Matt Rosa’s brother Simon captained the Bendigo Bombers back in the day before he headed to Peel to play with matt.
Simon Rosa appears to be back in Bendigo.
I perhaps should’ve used alternative to better describe what I meant. In this instance I didn’t use trust as in, ‘I trust’. It was more another word for ‘I would hope’…
I believe Simon Rosa coached the Golden Square Under 18s in the Bendigo League this year.
Going to miss Fitzgerald.
Was definitely one of my favourites of the VFL boys. Always had a crack.
Still shocks me that he’s only 20.
booo Norwood… booooo!
From the Norwood website
Isn’t it an open secret that the vast majority of these independent clubs pay their players a lot more in terms of getting them a higher paying job, a car amongst other benefits?
Whilst true maybe that is testament to the clubs and their networking in the community.
I seriously don’t believe that an AFL club with all its networking and sponsors can’t do something for these players yet SANFL clubs running on the smell of an oily rag have networks that get players jobs, houses, cars etc are able to do it
how many Essendon supporters actually care about VFL/Reserves side?
I don think that many people really care, other than getting second hand information of how individual players have performed.
I question whether the club really cares much about it tbh.
Brad Scott doesn’t seem to take much consideration for VFL form when picking his side…… which I think feeds into the culture amongst the club, players, recruitment.
Nice if the twos win the flag because then the ones will win it the next year…1983, 1992, 1999
2022?
Good luck finding empty accommodation in Melbourne to lob a recruit in.
It’s about creating a winning culture. We don’t seem to care much about winning at any level.
I care
