VFL v Casey

Clear holding the ball not paid in the closing seconds of the seniors wheelchairs, costing us the game.

So unless there is a major turnaround here, we have Lost The Weekend*.

*officially; VFLW kicked 10 goals again, and the reserves wheelchairs are defending last year’s premiership by being a game clear on top of the ladder… I’m happy.

He kicked 12 goals in his first 6 games as an 18 year old tall.
In our VFL side of all things. He was performing better than expected.

I’m basing it on his first 18 months. He hadn’t shown enough to me.

The good players are showing it early on.

You are using today’s game to attack him in the VFL thread. You want to discuss his last 18 months take it to his thread and do it there.

No. I’ve been watching him since he started and he hasn’t shown nearly enough for my liking.

Let’s see. I bet he doesn’t make it.

I hope I’m wrong btw…

I’m not going off stats. I’m going on his strengths and weaknesses. I reckon Edwardes is a better prospect and I’m doubtful he will make it.

I think May is a much better product than Gerryne. May is showing it early on as well. Chalk and cheese.

Personally, I think Gerreyn should be switched back onto Jefferson for the rest of this match.

He won’t get any value out of standing cold in the forward line.

2-0!!!

Are we all in agreement that Archer isn’t going to make it?

If I’m wrong, what is it that gives genuine confidence he has a future?

I haven’t seen an innate ability to take contested marks. He doesn’t appear to be agile for his size. What am I missing that makes anyone believe he has a genuine future as a key forward?

I include Edwards and Mc Mahon in the same class (for different reasons) btw.

We need to recruit another genuine quality key forward.

This is a post from @dmaplestone re Archer May

You said he wasn’t performing. He very clearly was. I watched every one of those games and he showed plenty (Whilst also having clear weaknesses).

At this point we’re just going in circles. Fully accept he has limitations, just stop trying to rewrite history.

We’re playing Ben McKay and Harry Jones forward currently. Perfect time to give him a run (Or it would have been if we hadn’t switched him back for 12 months).

Kondo has been, overall, good.

One of the comms keeps calling Casey Demons the Springvale Scorpions.
I am sure Melbourne are happy with that. :joy:*

Not a bad 3rd for us, we won the 1/4.

Who says I’m always right? It’s just an opinion. That’s ok isn’t it!

Do you think Gerryne is going to be a quality AFL level player on what you see?

Anyhow, I hope I’m wrong but I think he’s behind Edwardes and May and needs to be better overhead and in his physical contest work if he has a future abi e VFL grade.

Again, imo humble opinion if he’s not stronger with his contested work how does he have a future as a key forward? Isn’t that the reality with a player like him?

He can kick a few goals opportunistically but in the end it’s his ability to take contested grabs and smash a few bodies that will give him a chance.

If he can mark it like Edwardes he’d be a prospect. He has a strong physique, I wish he’d use it more.
