FORM COMING IN

Essendon (13th, 0-6) remain winless after seven rounds, losing to Hawthorn by 28 points last week. The Casey Demons (10th, 1-4) lost their fourth match in Round 7, beaten by the Western Bulldogs to the tune of three points.

KEY QUESTION

Can the Demons finish close games? Three of Casey’s four defeats have been by margins of less than eight points. Against the Hawks in Round 2, the Demons led by 12 points at half time but ultimately fell by seven, while the following week against the Saints, they gave up a 12-point three-quarter-time lead to lose by eight. On a brighter note though, Casey did fight back from nine points behind the Bulldogs to fall just short last week.

KEY STAT

Essendon will be looking to win more of the ball after recording 113 fewer disposals than Hawthorn in Round 7. The Bombers only held possession for 39 per cent of the match and were left chasing their opponents – evident their high tackle count (98 to the Hawks’ 80).

No wait, you’re the one in the cosy location.

Damnit.

Craigieburn, where all of the seats are under cover but all are wet when you get there… flag indicates that may continue to be the case.

Rain has paused though.

Essendon board member seem scurrying away from the ground, claiming she was after a blanket…

Mackrill forward and marks at 40.

Hoons are out on the roads in the wet.

Ball falls short.

First fifty of the day gets Casey inside fifty for the first time.

We rebound.

Why the fark did I forget to bring a poncho?

Dematteo marks then runs into the fence. Ow.

Wind 45 degrees to their southern end.

Morecroft too good for this level. Blind turn and pump in deep.

Get nicked. Random kick off the ground carries twenty for a mark to them in range.
