… but Scott says “hold my sheep”.
Yes, she took this one.
While we clearly won the hit-outs and appreciated Boyd being wasted as second ruck, Matser can claim a draw in the actual ruck wrestle against Killer and Meg (seen on the left, just).
The different was Wales also racking up 17 disposals.
“Pearso” watches as Hurrell marks. The latter just needs to cut out some errors in her game. She certainly had a positive affect overall.
EFC match report by Blake Gaffiero; good apart from capitalising “De” and placing VDH behind the ball.
A classy four-quarter performance has seen Essendon overrun a competitive Box Hill outfit on Saturday, running out victors 5.2 (32) to 1.9 (15).
The Bombers kept the Hawks goalless after quarter time in a sturdy defensive display and capped off their good work with some clinical finishing at the other end of the ground.
The Dons opened the scoring through co-captain Mia-Rae Clifford and Liv Manfre, the latter proving to be a dangerous forward option with her strength in the contest and accuracy from the set shot.
After it appeared the Hawks were settling into the contest, an intuitive soccer at goal from Amelia Radford in the second term extended the lead to 10, giving Essendon some breathing room heading into the half.
Radford was a workhorse all day, finishing with 29 disposals and five clearances to continue her stellar season to date.
The Dons’ transitional play through the corridor proved too much for the Hawks to handle after half-time, showcasing their willingness to attack via the quick give and finishing the match +30 in handballs.
The return of Paige Scott to the Essendon line-up injected plenty of flair in the front half, providing an important aerial target with six marks and even hitting the scoreboard with a trademark fend-off and snap in the third term.
The pairing of Sophie van De Heuvel and Danielle Marshall behind the ball became a bane for the Hawks going forward, standing up to combine for 30 disposals and eight marks in arguably their best games of the season so far.
A second major for Manfre put the result to bed in the final quarter, marking the Dons’ fifth win in a row ahead of a crunch clash with ladder leaders Geelong next week.
The Dons and Cats will take to the NEC Hangar to square off at 11am on Saturday, May 20th.

29 disposals, five clearances, one goal
Another stellar game from ‘Uber’. She played inside all day, but what was impressive was her mix of contested and uncontested ball and her no-fuss attitude, which has been a standout across her games with us. We look forward to seeing her progression with the AFLW over the back end of the year.
19 disposals, 14 kicks, six marks
Georgia’s been a shining light for us with her aerial presence, continuing to grow and learn about our breakdowns. The standout from the weekend was her involvement at both ends, with her mix of both rebound 50’s and inside 50’s, which will be a great attribute for her as she learns the Essendon brand.
17 disposals, 30 hit-outs, four clearances
‘Killer’ has been super dominant for us and will be missed [when she transitions into the AFLW]. She was dominant in the hit-outs and her positioning around the ground again over the weekend, but what’s been more beneficial for me is her leadership and voice out there. As a coach, you love to see that in your younger players.
16 disposals, two marks, three clearances
Sophie continued her good form playing on the wing this weekend and is getting a really good breakdown of contested and uncontested footy. A standout for her over the past few weeks has been her running game, which she showed again on Sunday.
14 disposals, 12 kicks, six marks
The American. She plays a very different brand of football to what we’re used to, but she is so reliable. She took some great aerial marks and has been super punctual with her communication in the back six, so we love to see her dominating down there.
12 disposals, six marks, one goal
‘Scotty’ joined us again on the weekend after missing a couple of games with concussion. She showed her aerial presence again with some contested marks, which I love seeing as a key forward. She directly set up some important goals on the weekend and was important for the group.
Eight disposals, six kicks, three marks
‘Gambs’ was really impressive in her second game back. She’s really getting some good continuity in her movement patterns and taking some nice marks. This’ll set her up for a good pre-season knowing she’s back up and about, and confident in her body going forward.
No reports from our game, or against players who could subsequently miss playing versus us.
Ex-Bomber Emma Mackay offered a week due to a first charge for striking.
Just quietly averaging the equivalent of 44 disposals/game in a men’s length game.
P.S. One day we’ll agree on how to spell her nickname.
P.P.S. It’s not “Uber”.
