Sweet upright man! What brand is it. I inherited my grandad’s upright. He used to play the piano accompanying silent movies. Little known fact🤪

It’s a Lagonda, around 100yr old. Was my grandmother’s. I can’t play it, but it’s a bit out of tune after several moves. Not worth much, but it’s a nice heirloom.

Amp is a Ratajczyk Cream Reverb, 15w. Hand made in Brisbane by BJ Amplifiers. Similar to a Fender Deluxe, they come in 30w also. Beautiful amps.
Just on a trolley in the previous pic

And the Electric Ladyland cover is waiting for a replacement disc. Some prick stole one out of the cover from a party in Northcote before I left Melbourne 24 years ago.

I’ve had times where I’ve gone to play a record and it’s not there, cover and everything. I’ve listed it on Discogs years earlier as being in my collection but it’s not anywhere and then I start to wonder if I ever had it to begin with

I had a party at home for my 18th and I lost quite a few records (gatecrashers) - bastardos.

Running a disco. Wasn’t as vigilant as I should have been.

Then like 6 months later I find it filed under K.

Of course, for Jez he needs to check whether he filed it under “gloomy”, “sombre”, “melancholy” or “hungover”…

Giving the Vevor ultrasonic cleaner a go today. 1st up was used 1976 Dreamboat Annie (Heart) I found at a vintage fair last month or so. Hadn’t played it, but after cleaning it was inredibly clear, no background hiss, pops, nothing. I’m now doing some that I know to be dirty, almost if not unlistenable, so will update on those.

It’s an anoying sound.

There are so many opinions and variations on solutions that I’m just taking them as general guidelines and experimenting a bit. I’m using 4L demineralised water (couldn’t find distilled), ~100ml isopropyl alcohol, small squirt of Finish rinse aid. Water temp around room temp, 24c

My copy of The Wall is covered in light scratches and scuff marks (on all sides) which are permanent. But it was also filthy, unplayable. 30 minutes in the cleaner and I’d definitely give it a pass now, maybe 70%. Plays now far better than it has a right to.

I do around 40-50 records at a time with the Vevor. Had cleaned up a lot of stuff that I have for sale and for my own collection that hasn’t seen daylight for a while.Had it for over two years now without a problem and will get into it again next weekend!

What solution do you use?

The vinyl solution, of course.
