Don’t we usually wait until after the trade has gone through before we start these threads?
Growing up in Perth as an Essendon supporter and being surrounded by family and friends who support West Coast has made me really despise the Eagles. I find it incredibly frustrating that North Melbourne gifted these guys Reid, effectively shortening their rebuild by about 3-4 years.
For what it’s worth, I think we would have to bite the bullet and give up Nic Martin plus two first-rounders to get Reid, as much as I would hate to let my boy go.
Nic Martin would have to want to go.
We have no one of value, that we would willingly put on the trade block.
I guess we would just give eagles a list of players, and remove Merrett & Durham & Langford from the list. and see who they want, then try and convince them to be involved in the trade.
delaney was very quick.
was worried that part of the deal might come back and bite us

He’s a spud with dodgy groins. Do not want.
The Judd deal was:
Eagles receive: #3, #20, Josh Kennedy
Carlton receive: Judd, #46
An equivalent deal might be:
Eagles receive: Nate Caddy, two first rounders
Bombers receive: Reid, third rounder.
I would do probably do that deal. Eagles would presumable want more this time however, given Reid would be circa 5 years younger than Judd was at the time.
you don’t give up Caddy. best mates with Reid and part of reason he would be coming.
Need to get a third club involved.
Ie Dogs give them English plus we use picks/players to satisfy dogs/eagles
Eagles Z Reid (reunite brothers), Dogs Future round 1
Dogs Bryan Ess F1
Ess H Reid,
Tim English is a RFA, so eagles get him but we also compensate doggies. with pick swap
So doggies get
English compo rd 1 + Ess F1 + Bryan but lose future first
Nate Caddy is a Melbourne boy isn’t he?
I reckon he and his family wouldn’t be too keen on that.
And, we traded up to get Nate to Geelong’s benefit.
Not suggesting Caddy should be part of any deal, just a hypothetical to get an equivalence with the Judd trade.
Yeah nah (but I appreciate your sentiment for the change that was coming).
There’s an existing trade thread, grandstanders.
