Welcome to Essendon - there might be more last list spots…

Pfft, far too simple an idea to ever work.

■■■■ me. Of all possible qualities/attributes we could be judging a potential rookie, carrying a little bit of excess weight would have to be stone cold last on that list.

Hmm, you might be into something there

A talented youngster?

Move over Jack, need room for at least 1 more.

Especially the mods. Can’t trust that type.

Not sure we should draft a 3 year old . Despite how impressive his performances may have been . I think the game plan will prove far too hard for him to comprehend .

We could just get Nino to illustrate the game plan in pictures for him.
Nino’s picture of the kick in strategy is seared in the memory.

Where does he end up playing at AFL level?

Why we wouldn’t take a talented young indigenous kid every year is beyond me.

Think of the upside

We think he’ll grow into his body, and could be anything.

I reckon our “make your own decision” game plan would be perfect for him.

announce new player.

Lol, so he’s (Lockyer) listed on the Thunder website as 22yo, 190cm height, 75kg. Having seen the highlights above, I’m thinking the 75kg is as reliable as the Essendon height stats.

Looks very strong, explosive and good acceleration. Definitely worth a trial over peeseason.

People are very close-minded about Lockyer just because he’s three years old.
But the European soccer clubs draft little kids all the time.
They mould them exactly into the players they want them to be.
There are pros and cons, granted. But just like any other player.
Pros:
-he doesn’t need to be paid much so salary cap relief.
-kinder fees are cheaper than putting a kid in Scotch or Xavier.
-he won’t talk to the media, because… well, he can’t talk.
-he can use some of Snelling’s spare training gear.

Cons:
-the new Tullamarine wave pool is a danger. We can’t afford him to drown.
-he won’t be able to play night games as bedtime coincides with half time.

He was 75kg in his draft year, I’d say they never updated it since then :joy:
