Welcome to the Bombers Johnny Rayner

I think there's been a mistake...he actually rang the club and asked if he could be the runner.

I heard Stanton and NO’B are privately seething.

Only on Blitz is an actual real high level athlete classified as “not an athletic freak” and a guy who has actual footy skills classified as “not having skills that could transfer over”

Inspired pick, I think the Dalgleish experiment has opened a few eyes. Guys with athletic talent just need time to learn the game and get their skills up. By picking up someone with exceptional athletic ability we can create a footballer out of nowhere.
Love the move!
Give him time watch out for 2015-16!

Did you miss the whole bit about him being in the TAC Cup team of the year?
No, Dalgleish was the same, athlete first footballer second.
They have the basics of footy but not Quite AFL recruit standard. As a rookie we only have to fix the footy bit.
We should have one of these guys on our rookie last every year.
LOLs.
You must've missed the bit about him being in the TAC cup team of the year

Looks like a doofus.

Hope he can play.

When I was a tacker, Ron Clarke played for our 2nds - best distance runner in the world at that time - running against the clock...and he was too slow to play well.

Some people would see negatives in sleeping with a Victoria secret model.

Orlando does !

And 4th in the Jets B&F.

There you go.....you're obviously younger than I imagined :P

Since Austin 'T-Rex' Lucy I don't give that much credence.

Is that a ■■■■■ in the traditional sense?

Oh Jesus...someone should tell the kid during the practice games not to do a "mighty Quinn" and end someones career.... Surely hes smarter than that?? is he

Is that a ■■■■■ in the traditional sense?

For those of you not culinary or botanically minded this is not a ■■■■■ (swear filter doesn't let you use the correct spelling) and, as such, has nothing to do with ones sexual orientation.  In the interests of the new recruit I just wanted to clear that up*.

*Not wanting to steal anyones punchline. If you want to find out about it play 20 questions with the one who posted it.

Vanilla? Not enough panic merchant though

I keep reading the name in this thread title as Johnny Raper, and wonder why the hell we have recruited a 75 year old NRL legend.

...and a wobber...and a pickpocket

His best for 800m was 1:47:98, .

Fark. No wonder he hasn't played footy for 5 years.
Suspect if it doesn't work out in 2014 he'll be looking to knock a couple of seconds off in the hope of getting to Rio...

Tough ask. Even without a break many of us get to that pace but can not take next step to 1:45/44. He is gonna be faster but not fitter than Blicavs.

From a football point of view he as really good 400m speed......Im a 1.47.7 800m  guy but only run 49.mid for a 400m. He goes 47. Blicavs would be a 50.xx guy. Not many AFL guys will be able to touch him over any 80m runs.

We need picks like this with our current situation. Only costs you a rookie list spot. We don't really lose in this situation.

Edit: re 400m speed...If you think dempsey provides pace from halfback this guy could provide twice that.

Twice as fast as Dempsey? Wow!  Just give him the footy and stand and watch!

HAHA you get the point!  Will be interesting to see if his track speed converts to football speed. Can he cut and slice like Dempsey and Co. Or is he just a straight line guy. I think it will seeing as though he has football in his background. Not just some guy plucked from the track with no game sense.

I love pickpockets. Twice before we opened Melbourne Show, old Tom Wittingslow bought in a couple of them just to show a few of us what they could do. Absolutely amazing. I had the watch taken of my wrist by a guy who was standing face to face with me. I watched a friend get the wallet taken out of the inside pocket of a jacket by the same guy whilst having a chat. Even when you know you are about to be got, you still don't notice. Extraordinary skills.
