Welcome to the Club - Daniel McPherson

You’ve been YACO’d

In the argument of heresay. Someone’s contributed on bigfooty that it was McPherson that told Norf their football departments were a mess and need to be imploded. To try and marry these two heresay narratives, you could contend that a first year employee that comes in and says “you guys are ■■■■■■, let’s start sacking” could be perceived as “cancer”.

Being outraged off comments, or alleged comments by a guy that was petulant at the club, seems a fools game to me. It’s unconfirmed and even if true, told through a subjective lense. He’s not exactly the appointment that sends up fireworks and a parade in his honour, but realistically those kind of appointments aren’t always sound either.

It’s weird exactly where people draw the line with the scapegoating stuff.

We are the Bomberoos

He looks like a no holds barred MF with an agenda of pain.

TLDR: he oversees the non-game day coaches from development, to performance, to mental.

Spoke well.

Key word is ‘clarity’.

Be prepared for a world of pain and accountability lads.

Picked up the slack for Mahoney at Melbourne.

Now he will be doing it here.

Citation needed.

Like him……really liked the interview and the way he spoke. My impression is he’s tough, a good communicator- makes Rutten sound like an incoherent fool - which on reflection is true. There will be less Shaka’s and more intensity around the group

I can only judge the man based on the interview posted this evening. Super impressive. Was crystal clear with his communications & seems to have a great understanding of his role and what the club will be doing leading up to pre season beginning November 21st. Good get by the looks of it.

I like him already…

And Bald head, so you know he means business

Let’s hope he gets the best out of the lads

Didn’t he play for the Swans? You’d think he’d have some good intel on what a successful culture is based on his lived experience.

McPherson is potentially a great appointment for our needs. Has a proven track record working with Mahoney and experience in two successful club cultures. His leaving North should be seen as a man being offered mercy and nothing else lol

OK, some inside info which actually surprised me. My source is someone on the outside of AFL but works with coaches, media etc.
He has had conversations with our president and said he is actually a good and capable individual with good contacts. He is there to rid us of our old ways, of looking after our ex players and mates etc (boys club mentality) and hire ‘the best person available for the job’!!!
Now I don’t know Josh or any of the other appointments any more than what I have read, but if what I’ve been told about Dave, his motto is 'they have to deserve and prove themselves as the best available person… and WIN their position!
I must admit, this is refreshing and exactly what our club needed. Even Brad had to prove himself against the other candidates and wasn’t just offered the job as I would have expected.
Saying this, I now ignore all the white noise and instead I just allow the cards to fall as they will with a certain amount of confidence and sit back looking forward to next year, (because of the fact we have a coach with a bit of mongrel and ability, who should get the most out of our squad and take no ■■■■!!)
Also, with our draftees and AMT coming back, I’m generally excited for next year.

It’s all well and good to say “heard it from a source the President is all about ensuring everyone proves they are the best available person” - but look at the runs on the board. His appointment of Thorburn is a complete contradiction to everything you heard from your source. The President hired someone who was disgraced in his last CEO role and whose values contradicted that of the club.

That reality just does not stack up with everything you’ve heard.
