This is something that annoys me, and I should probably add it to the list but whilst I'm here, what is with the fuel price gouging during holidays? They feed us some B/S about it being cyclical....yeah right, this "cycle" they have coincides perfectly with every public holiday. If it's a fuel price cycle, why are we the only country to have it?

Because ours is about the only govt that allows corporate price gouging.
And it's amazing how the price can go up on fuel already in the tanks.
But you never see anyone complain about prices being 'down, down, down'.
And in terms of car costs, depreciation costs more than fuel.
farkin' wut?

According to choice, cars depreciate, on average, 14% per annum. That's 7K on a 50K car in year one. The 'price gouging' probably costs you less than $500 per annum.

Yeah, yeah, nah, yeah but iphones are more expensive than milk.

So fracking what?

What, people should appeal to the power that makes things that aren't as good less valuable than things that are awesome?

Or, unconscionable conduct is okay because, hey look, the sun sets in the west?

What the friggin' what are you on about, man?

I'm not concerned with depreciation, I buy a car, I use it, I expect it to be worth less when I sell it because I've used it, that's the same for everything except probably real estate. I have a problem with getting screwed over because it's a holiday and they know people are going to be using more fuel, it's not as if there is a supply problem and it suddenly costs more to produce fuel, it's just greed. The ACCC "investigated" this phenomenon and gave it the all clear, nothing to do with us...toothless tigers

From their 2012-13 report

Short run price volatility exacerbated by retail petrol price cycles

Price cycles are still evident in Australia‘s largest cities

Petrol price cycles are still evident in many retail markets, particularly in the larger capital cities.

Petrol price cycles are not caused by changes in international benchmark prices or other costs. Rather, price cycles are an outcome of petrol retailers‘ profit maximising pricing policies.

Consumers‘ concerns with petrol price cycles are due to the large price increases that occur in a single day, and across most retail sites, on a regular basis.

The duration of price cycles in the eastern capital cities has increased from the regular weekly cycle seen several years ago. In 2013, the average length of petrol price cycles has increased to between 13 and 19 days on average.

The lengthening and increasing variability of price cycles has made them less predictable and more difficult for consumers to take advantage of low points in the cycle.

my car has three settings, one for when the wife is in the car, one for when the kids are in the car, and one for when its just me. the setting for just me uses at least 25% more fuel. i can fill up on an y day and still be infront of any price hikes around holidays.

plus its a work vehicle, tax write off, the more i spend, the more i get back!!!!!!!!

Anything to do with metro at the footy. Just such a shambles!!

The sheeplike mentality which has been slowly yet surely ingrained into our society over the past 30 years by manipulation from our collective governments and the media .

While once upon a time it would have been a natural and unquestionable state of affairs to challenge the powers that be in a manner of respect, it would appear there is now far to great an agenda.

On a serious note though, Wagon wheels are smaller!! Anyone that disagrees can get fncked!!
