If you do a proper list build you want a few superstar top 5 picks in there. You want to have a Martin, Bont, Petracca to build the list around.

Because the losses are not “who we are”, so the losses don’t count. The unimpressive wins against teams that lost by ten goals the week before and after are actually a sign of growth because “good teams know how win ugly”. The losses to the best teams are okay because what did you expect, we’re a developing team. So then the handful of good games become what any reasonable supporter is expecting every week next year because it’s basically what we get every week once you exclude the 15-16 aberrations that don’t count.

Scott has said we are going to be ”aggressive” this off season too. All we have done is add more average players to an average list. It’s a very strange spot.

It’s an easy trap to compare what we’ve got coming through to what’s already on the list. Hobbs, Tsatas, yeah should hopefully be solid players, but then you put them up against the young mids other teams are rolling out.

Sounds like Tsatas was one of our better players
Which stars were available though? What they did was upgrade 3 areas of the ground and replaced with the best available talent that was open across the industry.
Gresham is a clear upgrade
McKay is an upgrade and need
Duursma is solid and improves wing depth
Goldy a cheap free get to fill ruck depth.

Brad did say it will be easy to pick out the ones that dont adhere to his standards and be easily reaplaced
He would have Jones and Weid already with a red line next to thier name
I don’t think those decisions match where our list is at in reality. It’s essentially plugging holes.

I’d be running a thick red line THRU Weid’s name right now, unless he can reinvent himself as a backman.
Jones has the year to recapture the promise of 2021.

They identified easily a list that had zero depth and an age group demographic out of whack. They have been heavily turning over the last 2 years (over 20 players gone) and looking to strengthen each line with upgrading the talent. As teams should.
