No. The F/S rule is pretty even and is part of every teams heritage.

Which is incredibly easy to allow for. Simply do a calculation of the average number of players an established club has that qualify, and then choose local team(s) who have players meeting the 100 games criteria to get a similar number. Maybe a boost as they are not elite athletes. Given the adults played AFL, even if they come from Sydney/Gold Coast the kids will have AFL influence in their lives. And this will grow the area the AFL wants.

For example, maybe for Gold Coast Southport would have been the club, and if a youngster came through with a father who played 100 games for them it would qualify them for F/S. To have a sunset clause similar to what happened for Freo, WCE and Port.

So it is easy to make it so that they get a fair access to players with local ties. Then everyone is playing off the same rules and nobody can complain about the F/S rule. How many sons of talent were produced would just be luck, and you only get them at a discount anyway.

I’m not sure their is anything available worth that much. Fyfe won’t leave Freo. Danger is gone already. Nobody at GWS is worth that much yet. OMeara has knee issues.
