No no no… in 2022 it is turn to the other cheque
How much did Hird get paid for his last 10 games coaching?
About $2M and a fancy business diploma?
We’re an easy target.
we seem to be like governments - despite financial issues they can pull out the $$$$ when something comes up
Interesting because read in the Sun a day or two ago, the man from the church on the hill, very ex CEO, is also looking for a pay out and has the legal eagles IN TOW NEGOTIATING with the club. He will probably GET A PAY OUT.
Essendon the club with money to burn.
AFL paid for the study trip to France. That was the sweetener for him to give up his right to due process under Australian Law. That & of course the removal of the threat to deregister the club…kentykentkents.
Wyllie the mediator ( and PBF of Fitzpatrick) offered Hird a Rhodes scholarship.
Also Little told Hird he would be sacked if he didn’t settle.
Essendon made an error employing him in the first place (several errors really), and because they made the error, and effectively pushed him out very quickly, they have ruined his chances of future employment, or at least, reduced his chances even further than they already were.
Even if they could win in court, and avoid paying him out, the mistake was mainly theirs. I think it’s fair enough they compensate him for their mistake. And none of us want to read trashy articles for the next year or more about how stupid Essendon is if this becomes a drawn out court case.
Leave out the bits of Hird being blackballed from any job related to the AFL for several years .
What Fitzpatrick said to Corcoran. Your little mate won’t get a a job in this town again.
what surprises me about this post is it follows on from a comment re lazy joedaniwho, and then it puts 3 sentences together out of context with an implication that Hird ‘targeted’ Essendon.
I’m assuming that wasn’t the intended meaning.
Vague statements of belief and values is like chapter one out of the ‘progressive’ churches how to book.
They’re meaningless and intended to mislead so that others can project their own values and interpretations upon them. Thorburn isn’t appointed the president of a churches board because he fundamentally believes they’re all bonkers lol
Didn’t you mention he was ‘enamoured’ with you ?
He must be.
He has been doing it since at least 2019.
How do you sue if you resigned?
Be rich enough for a clever legal team to have them put together long winded arguments about resigning when you thought you had no choice.
Pertinent reminder he is the ex-CEO of a multi-billion dollar international.
Any assertion that he was hard done by a footy club board is absurd. He knew and understood, or should have, exactly the situation he was in and what his decision would lead to
At its most basic , when the conditions imposed on you make it impossible to continue in your job and to continue with your normal life. Your job gets rearranged to a nothing job for instance or you get made to work unsocial hours.
People get pushed to resign all the time, but not everyone pursues their legal rights.
A hypothetical :
When staff find out that AT is appointed CEO, there is a palace revolt because he is viewed with anathema by staff who have contact with him or knowledge of his character.
So Barham invents a condition that AT is not prepared to comply with.
Him leaving NAB didn’t run concurrently with media overload regarding his religious standing.
I’m not disagreeing with you and this is nothing more than a bloke with a career in finance trying to find a way to make a buck. But, I still think he’d have enough resources for a complicated enough legal argument.
My interest in this is really about Essendon’s position based on what was and wasn’t known before the appointment, and AT’s rights. His rights should be protected in exactly the same way as anyone’s rights are.
I don’t believe in criticising people’s beliefs, especially on a public forum. I’ll fight for your right to believe whatever you want to without persecution, up to the point that you engage in illegal activity.
I don’t mean that as an insult. I just believe it’s vital to protect freedom of speech and freedom of beliefs without persecution. If those pillars fall, we’ll all be the poorer for it.
He’s a member of the Club, as I am. He pays an annual membership fee, as I do. It’s his money - and mine - and that of every Essendon member.
Are you an Essendon member ?
