Apparently, we have been talking to Brendan McCartney too.

Yze, Choco & McCartney would be huge additions to the football side of things.

My stupid dumb heart would love Hird back for a bounty of reasons - including that I genuinely think he’d be a very good coach - but I’ve always thought that a Yze/Choco (and possibly also McCartney) combo would tick a hellava lot of boxes.

Prior to signing with the Western Bulldogs as Senior Coach, former colleague James Hird was full of high praise for his then Assistant Coach.

“I can’t imagine there’s a better coach in Australia in the way he develops players and teaches them to play football,” Hird said of McCartney. “I’m surprised someone like that hasn’t had a chance at senior level, because in my time in footy I don’t think I’ve met a better coach.”

Best mate has also worked with him down at the college in Geelong. Sat in the car whilst McCartney interviewed him. Was very intimidating apparently, but nice bloke. Very tough. Sets very high standards.

Believe it or not, ■■■■ aka “Medusa” is actually very good friends with Mark Williams and family and has been for many years - since his playing days at Collingwood/Brisbane Bears.
