McCartney came on like a steam train but then burned through us, the dogs, dees…surely out of everyone in footy we’re not going back to that well again
Not having any factual ammunition to mount a grandstanding grievance to the selection process and thus, no validity in the never ending accusations that the process was rigged - only rigged if Hird should win the role.
If you think it’s a tainted process then you’re not going to accept whomever gets the role. Because it’s …… you know ……
tainted.
I don’t blame you for thinking it might be tainted, it would appear that many processes at EFC have been tainted for the past twenty years….
However this seems to be one of the first times ever in my memory they haven’t just picked someone out of thin air, and have gone to the trouble of convening a diverse qualified experienced selection panel.
And if you think the process is tainted, you are calling into question the integrity of the people on that panel.
well again it all comes down to how many candidates they end up putting forward. if they put 3 and the club chooses hird, i won’t hold the people on the selection committee responsible.
that being said it would be valuable to know as to why a candidate is considered the best or i the best grouping, and how or what is valued as the best attributes or traits to have.
case in point (whether he applies or not) pyke is considered the supposed mastermind of the sydney attacking side of things since he’s gone there. if he was to get the job, would it be based on tactical nous first and foremost ? and x, y and z areas he may need some work on.
but yes you’re correct, i dont’ trust the efc and anyone who works day in and day out for it, to make the correct decision on Hird, I just will not ever see it as untainted.
It’d be like the police doing an audit on the police and coming back with it’s all good and all officers do everything by the book.
or dan andrews being in charge of a review of the labor party and claims of corruption and coming back with a report that says no corruption occured.
oh wait the labor zealotry on this site is just as bad as the hird zealotry …
ok new example, it’d be akin to scott morrison doing a report on how much everyone loves scott morrison and coming back with everyone does, you wouldn’t but it would you.
This whole thing about Scott saying ‘yeah if you can’t find anybody give me call’ is absurd. I reckon he is in ■■■■’s ear telling her all these things so he doesn’t look bad if he misses out, but he’s obviously keen and surely engaging with efc privately. It’s been like a month since the job became vacant, you’d know by now if you wanna coach or not.
I’d be hoping the interview team have visited him for an interview at his house or something, if as suspected he is worried about his involvement by being spotted and it being made public. You don’t wait till the last week to meet with what sounds like your number one candidate when everybody else has already had two interviews and a deadline on a decision by next Friday, it’s absolute bullshit.
