Ye Olde VFL MegaThread — August 2013 to December 2015

Possible team (yes, I left out Long). If the forward line bores you (!), bring on Edwards.

B: Pears Steinberg Dalgleish
HB: TIPPA a Langford Marigliani
C: Browne Ashby KAV
HF: Willis The Langford Fantasia
F: McKernan Hardingham McKenna

R: Tagliabue Polkinghorne Coghlan

I will be arriving into Melbourne at sparrow’s fart and if i can secure a vehicle from the family i will head to the game. If any one wants a Collectors item of a Beijing Bombers footy jumper for a good price, i can pack some, PM me with size in the next 12 hours

How do you rate our chances DJR

Only chAnge id make is put fantasia on a wing. He dominated last week pace could be handy through middle.
Backline looks solid.
Oh and maybe start fatarse up forward. But hard to argue with hardy mckernan langford as they have more class good team. Agree with leaving out long as he has gone missing, and struggled to impact games.
I feel confident.

On the team above, the changes since round 19 when we narrowly beat Footscray would be as below. I tried to match them up by type, you could rank these many other ways.

Overt wins:
Milham --> McKernan
Muller --> The Langford
Shroder --> McLeod (only because he’s pulled out injured in the first quarter the last two games…)

Potential for big upside:
McNeice --> Marigilani (only because it’s a final and he REALLY wants to be a premiership captain; McNeice has been good)
Hickey --> Fantasia
■■■■ --> Edwards
Byrne --> Browne

The rest:
Freezer --> Ferry*
Heppell --> Dalgleish
Purcell --> Heavyside

Good to see that the club is actually trying in the VFL finals this year

That forward line.

Footscray changes (based on full teams named, unlike the above for us; too lazy).

IN:
Austin
Barry
Campbell — their #1 ruck for this game
Fort — big, but is he any good?
Hannan
J. Hayes*
Macpherson
McLean
Nash
Talia — may be AFL emergency and not play

OUT:
Daniel — win for us; well, apart from the bit where we got Cooney instead
Grant — is he any good after 80 AFL games?
Roughead — is he any good after 88 AFL games?
Minson — any time I don’t have to see this sniper is a big win
Hamilton
Honeychurch
Iaccarino
Keras
R. Smith
Roberts
Russell

I know. They’re all the kind of guys who win individual contests, sometimes freakishly.

For more excitement, put Edwards at HFF, Fantasia on the wing, and boring ol’ Browne on the bench.

Will we win DJR?

I’m not calling anything till I see the team on the day. We’ve named good teams for VFL finals held after our last senior game before, and pulled nearly all of our AFL players out at the last moment.

I don’t think we’re doing that here, though, and if we break even in the middle (hello McKernan!) we should outscore them.

I agree with the earlier poster, I think it shithouse that most of the senior team has gone on end of season trip while the twos are still in the finals. No wonder our culture is ■■■■■■. I had one seniors coach who made us run drinks for the 19s when they were in a semi

Injured but eligible:
Kurt Aylett (Doc Reid says “garden variety” hammy; surely available next week)
Nick O’Brien (mild hammy, standard 20-day break would see him back next week and Doc Reid says that is likely)
Jonathan Giles (knee, arthroscope was scheduled for last week, not likely)

Rested?
Jayden Laverde (but doesn’t everyone say he coped with the first year strain better than The Langford?)

So keen.

Footscray’s possible optimistic naming of players, based on being listed at http://www.afl.com.au/news/injury-news/injury-list

So many General Sorenesses you’d think they were tanking last week.

Listed for AFL:
M Boyd (The General, test)
Morris (The General, test)
Murphy (The General, test)

Listed for VFL:
Campbell (illness, test)
Hrovat (ankle, test)
Talia (ankle, test)

While I agree, won’t it also mean that they will be back training earlier than everyone else?
That in itself is a good thing

Bit late, but club email yay!

Reminded me Skipworth is back in charge…

Really looking forward to this.

Wear sunscreen, or cover up…

Wind forecast similar to last week: hopefully the new players and coach paid attention to what we did in that last quarter, and to what Coghlan did when we had the wind.

Does Port Melb have good foooods?
