Could be right reckon some home truths might have said by Brad and they are too embarssed to speak pubilcy about it so they they use the throw away line “we dont know why”
Yeah, but that sounds far worse than just saying we know why and we’re addressing it. Doesn’t have to go into detail

I’m not singling out McGrath. I’m sure all players are briefed on what to say to the media and there wouldn’t be that much variance.

Nah, they got it backwards.
The real challenge is to explain how our list of plodders managed to not play like garbage for the first 17 weeks.
Last 6 weeks was so obvious how we were playing it wasn’t funny, nothing got addressed nothing!

That has been said plenty of times (something about learnings) and then the next season…
We know the story.
Better to just throw out a standard sentence and sort out our crap through the pre-season.
If people want to try and ‘read into’ the jargon…

I think the club is being a bit disingenuous saying it was just a slip up late in the season.
Post bye we only won 3 games, two of which were against North and West Coast by a combined 10 points.
It was the classic young squad with no depth running out of steam late in the season

Here’s McGrath early last year
“We’ve spoken a lot about our discipline as a playing group and just not getting things done that are at an AFL standard,” he said.
“We talked a bit about our tackling a bit about our workrate, which comes from the way we set the ground up.
“This week, we’ve kind of put a full stop on any acceptance on any of that and making that an expectation that if you can‘t do that you can’t play. We’re really determined to make amends.”

Ridley got injured and stopped covering for a poor defensive midfield group.
McGrath may have all the attributes of a leader, yet nobody seems to follow him.

I feel for McGrath. Because we’ve had no senior leaders, he’s been forced into a leadership role at a very young age.
Giving him this responsibility before he’s really found his feet at AFL level has impacted his game I suspect

Seems leaner, smarter and far more instinctual.
Perhaps the leadership stuff has messed with his head.
If Dodoro had of recruited him as a half back and we kept him there, I would have no doubt McGrath would be an AA players by now. Similar player to Quaynor, perhaps better offensively.
But we moved him into the midfield after we recruited Saad and then bulked him up too much for an inside role. He’s lost his pace as a result

Collingwood players routinely disrespected Andy in the last game, Crisp run directly at him knowing he’d brush off the attempted tackle.
