#1 - Andy McGrath - from April 2022

24 CBAs.

Or alterntatively, McGrath doing nothing but following one of the best small forwards in the league wherever he goes and locking him down leads to one of our better performances.

I didn’t see much of it, who did he play on? It was a tagging role I assume?

He pretty much tagged Kozzie the whole game.

It’s a bit of a funny one - it feels good cause we won obviously. but Kozzie had 28 and kicked 2.

Definitely wasn’t as dynamic and impactful as other weeks. So i think Pidge did do a good job.

It wasn’t a full tag as when Kosi went forward I didn’t see McGrath on him that much but when he went into the middle McGrath was on him and did a very good job and was also semi serviceable for us when he got it. It was a massive reason we won; that and Wright more than holding his own against Gawn. Hopefully we keep Wright and Langford out of our forwardline from now on as the structure seemed to hold up much better with just Caddy, May and Edwards in there. Kako coming up to help in the middle and Gresham going deep also seemed to stretch their defence too.

24 CBAs for 2 Centre clearance and 5 contested possessions and two tackles. He didnt do that good a job on Kosi so I don’t think that kind of numbers is sustainable for someone who attends stoppages and puts on a tag

I’m not 100% convinced about his role atm

Two tagging jobs in two weeks.

Kozzie had 28 and kicked 2

Rowell had 35 and 17 contested possessions. Set up most of their scoring chains.

I thought he played well.

So did I.

Geez I like him in the midfield.

Whether he’s pulling huge numbers or not; he’s an aggressive hunter of the man and ball, and dynamic when it spills. Particularly when Caldwell is a bit out of touch, I think we persist with him there at the coal face, at least as an option.

I think SEH had an OK game down back picking up spills.

McGrath wasn’t on Rowell until after HT and even then not always on him.
It also didn’t look like he was given a tagging role, he was quite attacking.

11 score involvements / 5 clearances / 0 goal assists / 0 goals for Rowell vs 8 SI / 3 cl / 2 GA / 1 g for McGrath

Not all one way at all, in terms of damage

Also 32 CBA for Rowell vs 16 for McGrath so could only have been matched up for about a half.

He looked good live. Didn’t appear to be in n Rowell all the time. More like a Mr fix it, was forced to go back later. Was strong at the contest and cleaned up some sloppy disposal of team mates that would have otherwise been turn overs

Good game as per usual

Did an immense job today, Rowell was killing us and quietened down once McGrath was moved onto him in the later stages of the second

Great comment….. ā€˜as per usual’!!!

Kicked a nice opportunistic goal as well.

Our work in the middle has improved immensely since he went in.

He was on him at the first ā€œbounceā€ of the game.

I like him in the midfield.

Player ratings had him as our best player

A lock down midfielder who can kick a goal. Get him out of the back pocket for good please and develop someone like Nguyen.
