Mcgrath joining the midfield could be a good thing to get johnson back in the team

Just play him on the most impactful opposition players.

I hope he goes to Daicos next week

Do you watch other games? Pickett’s influence on the game was nil compared to the two previous weeks. Think you will find that McGrath was moved onto Rowell in the second quarter and partially quelled his interest and then McGrath moved back in the third quarter when Ridley was injured.

He was very good,

He is growing week to week.

Giving him a task makes him better.

Those that know made him our captain for a reason

It’s not about extraordinary skills.

His commitment to the cause is unshakable. And importantly he is always there; never injured and is always on the training track. Leading and pushing the young ā€˜uns.

And Merrett has returned to the fold and improved as well. Not sulking or pizzed off.

And the whole group look like they’re enjoying themselves and respect him.

Hopefully living the Jordan Henderson career arc.

Has to go to Daicos.

If he was on him at the first bounce it was only at the centre bounce. He was on Ben Long early when I noticed him at the ground.

It definitely wasn’t a hard tag as Tsatas and Parish were opposed to Rowell at several stoppages.

Breath work? I think he’s missing an ā€œsā€

Best game I’ve seen from McGrath in a long time, provided run that actually went somewhere. I was against him taking up midfield minutes but if he continues like he did then I’m happy to be wrong. But, he must learn to take a tackle. There was one clear instance of just wanting to get rid of the ball in traffic and he basically threw the ball away. If he can stop that crap I’ll be happy.

This is one of the inconsistant threads on Blitz. When we are playing well he’s good. when we play bad he is blamed for everything up to and including the Wreck of the Hespures and the Rape of Lucricia. And that was before he was captain.

I’m not saying he is blamless, but he is blamed for A LOT!!!

Not the biggest McGrath fan, but I feel like his performances have improved as a captain which is always good to see, particularly in tough circumstances. He’s more a Steve Smith as captain the responsibility has elevated his performance, much better than being a Mark Taylor or Stephen Coniglio.

He played really well as a defensive midfielder in the last FEW rounds of last season, most people on here thought he should stay there.

He has continued that trend on so far this year. I think you either play him as a lock down small, or a defensive mid. He adds a point of difference for us a mid with his pace and ability to play a negating role.
I really like him in the middle personally.

I’d put him on Jamie Elliott to start next game. He looked to be getting back his form of last season vs FARK CARLTON.

Durham or Caldwell can go with Daicos. Might get away in open play, but both more than capable of curbing him at stoppages.

But it’s a tough one. They both need to be curbed and McGrath is probably the best positioned to do both jobs.

If he’s playing a tagging role then he must go to Daicos.

the equation for this game is actually really simple - if we can limit Daicos’ output then we win.

Hopefully his accountable defensive midfield role is the start of his Cotchin story arc.

Definitely. Then Durham on Daicos. Duz has been a little low on form due to positional change, so give him a single task to focus on. If Daicos gets of the chain, you can swap Duz for Caldwell or McGrath at some point. Collingwood have a few exceptional players that are keeping them competitive. Just take that away from them.

I don’t think Durham has the running ability to go with Daicos. Not many do though
