How is it possible for me a 35 year member to to detest an Essendon captain? He is symbolic of everything wrong with our club. His effort, skill and leadership are so far what we need atm.

Duggen is a premiership player.

They arenā€™t captains though.

I know being a premiership player doesnā€™t make a good captain, but at least when he talks to the kids about the glory days, heā€™s not talking about a finals smashing.

If your main contention is that McGrath is a bog average footballer whose panic merchant style isnā€™t befitting of an AFL captain then I agree with that.

Generally a defender of McGrath but that no look over the head handball directly to a Brisbane player in the middle of their 50 arc. Thats about as bad of an example as one could set.

Set the tone for the day when he won a ground ball at half back 10 seconds into the game, ignored wright on the outside and instead did his special move, the straight line 15 m turnover snap kick.

It doesnā€™t even really bother me any more, I just laugh.

This type of kick should have been coached out of him in his second year. He still does it several times a week.
