#10 Isaac Kako

I’d be shocked if Twomey is picking the images to pair with his writings.

I stand corrected then  but it does seem like Kako’s picture has been used a lot for draft promos, not bad for someone projected to go 14 in what’s usually the most accurate phantom draft in Cals.

Important to note that this is power rankings and not draft order ie Sid Draper will go much higher than his ranking

I don’t think this is the way to look at it.

Half the problem with drafting is getting access to the talent, you only get one allocation from the league. The Daemons trade and Kako selection get us access to three first round talents in two years for the cost of two first rounder and change (9 and F1, F3), the third first round talent and change to get Kako is provided by the Daemons.

I just walked past the young man at highpoint, his quads look tough for his size!

Hmm, upper legs identified as ‘tough quads’ but not identified as ‘tree trunks’.

Don’t want.

I have been told that the Demons strong armed us.
They threatened to call Kako at their first pick causing us to use up 9.
If that is so, the pick 9 is kind of a lame duck, so we at least get to keep it as F1 rather than it vanish into thin air.

I think we "strong armed " back to get their future 1st plus other picks.

Ultimately if they bid on him at pick 5, we ahould have let them have him. Hes not the 5th best player in the draft. He’s probably not the 9th best either.

Small forwards are hit and miss. Weightman was the best in his draft and has hardly screamed elite.

It’s so hard to rate players against each other in the top 10 and I’ve seen some experts rate him around 15. To us though, Kako is essential not only for the fact he is a very capable - possibly the most capable - small forward in this draft but also for his exhuberance and will to dominate and win. We just don’t have enough of that currently on our list and just couldn’t afford to let him slip. Much as it pains me to lose pick 9 and a possible Harry Armstrong in this draft, I think we did the right thing.

There is absolutely no chance they would have used pick 5 on a small forward rated ~10 spots below that, and then not taken another pick till mid second round

STK on the other hand, probably would and will bid

We were over a barrel from the get go with the Kako selection and it’s either the Dees or Saints that were going to take advantage of that, it just sucks that 2 months ago he was projected to fall after our pick then the huge media pump came in and before we knew it we was a top 10 standout, didn’t even play any footy or attend the combine while this was happening.

Rosa did what he had to do but we have definitely been bent over.
I’m still hoping that something will play out on draft night that gets us back in that 1st round.

23, has averaged 30 goals a year over four injury interrupted years. We have nobody even close to doing that as a small forward afaik. Maybe not elite but ripped us a new one a couple of times.

If he wasn’t such a little ■■■■ I’d love him at Essendon.

A first, 2 seconds, 2 thirds and a fourth for a first and a 3rd is definitely not being bent over.

Depends on how good a player Melbourne pick up with our 1st rounder and where Melbourne finish next year I guess.

What colour tie was he wearing?

Yeah then becomes a star for Melbourne and a Kosi replacment we then be sitting here complaining why we didnt match.

Did we try to get other clubs involved and attempt a bidding war?

Yeah because AFL club recruiting staff just listen to media hype to make their decisions.

Pretty sure he would have been identified by clubs first and then the media heard about it and started talking about him. Not the other way around.
